  • Cowboys vs. Giants where to watch: TV channel, streaming, kickoff time, odds, pick for Thanksgiving

Cowboys vs. Giants where to watch: TV channel, streaming, kickoff time, odds, pick for Thanksgiving

FRISCO, Texas — The New York Giants (2-9) against the Dallas Cowboys (4-7) on Thanksgiving is technically a rematch from Dallas’ 20-15 road win in Week 4, but there is a noticeable difference for both teams nine weeks later.

Both teams’ starting quarterbacks from Week 4 — Daniel Jones for New York and Dak Prescott for Dallas — won’t be starting for either squad on Thanksgiving Day; Jones has been released while Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury in Week 9 at the Atlanta Falcons. Cooper Rush has taken the place of Prescott, while last season’s viral sensation Tommy DeVito has taken the place of Jones, but will miss Thursday’s game due to a forearm injury.

Will the Cowboys begin a winning streak with a victory against the Giants after their 34-26 upset win over the Washington Commanders? Or will the Giants rebound from a deflating 30-7 Week 12 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and stun a Cowboys squad starting to get some swagger back following a five-game losing streak? Let’s dig into this matchup and project a victor.

When the Giants have the ball

The Giants are a team in turmoil. They had multiple players, namely wide receiver Malik Nabers and defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, use the word “soft” to describe the state of their team.  Nabers also specifically critiqued head coach Brian Daboll’s play-calling and the team’s inability to get him the football after he recorded no targets in the first half of a game for the first time in Week 12.

There is also uncertainty regarding their quarterback situation because DeVito won’t play on Thursday after…

  • Shanahan unfazed by internet’s opinion of 49ers’ subpar season

Shanahan unfazed by internet’s opinion of 49ers’ subpar season

Shanahan unfazed by internet’s opinion of 49ers’ subpar season originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

Kyle Shanahan doesn’t care what the internet thinks.

At least when it comes to the current state of the 49ers, even amid a season in which nothing seems to be going their way.

On Wednesday, Shanahan painted a positive picture of the San Francisco locker room despite falling below .500 with Sunday’s blowout loss in Green Bay.

“The vibe in our locker room is exactly how you would think it’d be,” Shanahan told reporters during his media availability. “We’re upset with where we’re at in our record, but we’ve got a tight group and we play together.”

In particular, the 49ers coach pushed back on the idea that online discourse affects him or his team.

I think if you live in the world online, whether you’re dealing with our profession or your kids dealing with social issues in school, you’re not going to be happy if you’re dealing in the world online,” Shanahan continued. “And I’ve definitely coached long enough that I don’t deal in that world. Only online I look at is usually movie stuff and rap battles and funny things that animals do.”

So, needless to say, it doesn’t appear that Shanahan is scrolling Twitter after a crushing loss. However, he explained the importance of avoiding as much social media feedback as possible — whether it’s good or bad.

“When you listen to good stuff, like that’ll mess you up more than anything. And then, when you listen to bad stuff, it’ll crush you,” Shanahan said. “That’s not why any of us do this. You’ve got to work with younger guys on that. I think it’s harder just because of the world that they’ve been brought up in. But don’t make someone else’s reality your reality. You’ve got to focus on what your job is and never get away from that.”

That message is as crucial now as ever for the 49ers, who have lost two straight games to fall to 5-6 before a daunting trip to Buffalo this Sunday.

  • Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams and other rookies for which each NFL team should be thankful

Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams and other rookies for which each NFL team should be thankful

The Thanksgiving holiday is upon us and while several teams are out of the playoff picture, there is still a lot for which to be thankful. Upon exploring situations around the league, CBSSports.com has identified the one rookie for which each NFL team should be thankful for as the 2024 season reaches Week 13.

It’s been a pretty good season so far for rookie quarterbacks

    AFC North

Bengals: OT Amarius Mims (Round 1, No. 18 overall)

Cincinnati has not gotten a lot from its draft class this season, but Mims has had some good moments. He is a long-term starter for the organization and that is important because protection issues were a point of discussion for most of Joe Burrow’s early career.

Tight end Erick All is a net positive for the run game and could be the tight end of the future when healthy.

Browns: DT Mike Hall Jr. (Round 2, No. 54 overall)

  • Buccaneers’ Baker Mayfield suing father’s company for $12 million for alleged breach of contract, per report

Buccaneers’ Baker Mayfield suing father’s company for $12 million for alleged breach of contract, per report

    Getty Images

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield appears to have an uncomfortable Thanksgiving ahead of him.

According to KXAN Sports, the NBC affiliate in Austin, Texas, the Pro Bowl quarterback’s legal team filed a civil lawsuit in U.S. District Court on Nov. 22 against his father James W. Mayfield’s company, Camwood Capital Management Group, and its subsidiaries. Mayfield’s brother Matt also has partial equity in the company. The suit alleges Camwood failed to complete their side of a settlement agreement in which Mayfield is owed more than $12 million in a repayment plan.

The quarterback’s wife, Emily, and the couple’s company, Team BRM, LCC are the listed plaintiffs. They sought three different things in the settlement agreement: 1) an initial repayment of a reported $11.7 million in addition to interest starting from September of this year 2) to refinance an existing loan to help with the repayment and 3) give Mayfield access to Camwood’s records. Per Mayfield’s suit, the company didn’t comply to any of those conditions.

A primary issue was that $12.2 million was transferred from Mayfield to Camwood from 2018-2021 without Mayfield’s approval. The Buccaneer quarterback is pursing “no less than” $11.74 million in addition to interest, costs, legal fees” and “any other relief that the Court deems just and proper.”

Tampa Bay signed Mayfield to a three-year. $100 million contract this offseason after the first Pro Bowl appearance of his career in 2023. His 24 touchdown passes this season are the third-most in the entire NFL.

  • Brandon Graham vows to lead Eagles even after season-ending injury

Brandon Graham vows to lead Eagles even after season-ending injury

Brandon Graham vows to lead Eagles even after season-ending injury originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — In the coming days, there will probably be a few tears.

But there was no time for that on Sunday night.

As Brandon Graham announced after the Eagles’ 37-20 win over the Rams at SoFi Stadium that his season was over after suffering a torn triceps, he spoke with the same positivity that made him a legend in Philadelphia.

There was no self pity. No bitterness. None of that.

Just an all-time Eagle, standing tall and being a true leader moments after finding out his season — and possibly career — was over.

“All I know is they ain’t done with me yet,” Graham said. “I’m going to make sure I’m going to go out there and be the best leader I can be like I always do, keep bringing the energy and let people know how lucky they is that I am out.”

Yes, shortly after Graham found out his season was over, he was already game-planning on how to keep up his trash-talking game.

Graham, 36, suffered the torn triceps during the fourth quarter on Sunday night when he was chipped by a Rams running back. Graham had already been dealing with some tendinitis in his elbow but this time it stung a little longer and he knew something wasn’t right.

After getting checked out by a trainer on the sideline, Graham began to make his way inside when quarterback Jalen Hurts gave him a long hug as the two prayed together. A bunch of other teammates lined up to shake Graham’s hand as he walked off the field for what might have been the final time as an NFL player.

But in the wake of the news, Graham was as positive as ever.

“I’m making sure I’m having the best attitude I can have,” Graham said. “I’m sure I’m gonna cry about it. But it ain’t going to be too long and then I’m gonna move on to ‘How can I help my team from the sidelines?’ That’s the biggest thing I can do.”

While Graham has entertained the thought of returning for a…
