  • Giants star WR Malik Nabers named to 2025 Pro Bowl as injury replacement

Giants star WR Malik Nabers named to 2025 Pro Bowl as injury replacement

Giants WR Malik Nabers was tremendous during his rookie season, and on Monday, he added another milestone to his name.

The 21-year-old was added to the NFC roster for this weekend’s Pro Bowl games as a replacement for Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown — who withdrew due to an injury.

Nabers was originally named a first alternate for the games, but now he officially joins Dexter Lawrence as Big Blue’s lone representatives.

He is the first Giants rookie to earn the honors since fellow LSU product Odell Beckham Jr. did so back in 2014.

Nabers certainly earned his spot as he put his game-changing superstar potential on full display and was easily one of the brightest spots for an offense that was among the league’s worst during a dreadful campaign.

Despite missing two games with a concussion and playing with a revolving door of subpar quarterbacks, he finished with a total of 109 receptions, which is a new franchise record and the most among rookie receivers in NFL history.

He also finished seventh in the league with 1,204 receiving yards and found the end zone seven times.

Nabers and the NFC will be coached up by Giants legend Eli Manning this weekend.

2025 Super Bowl early odds: Chiefs vs. Eagles line has Kansas City as slight favorite eyeing three-peat

And then there were two. We are down to the final two teams in the NFL as the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles will take on the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Philly finds itself in the big game after blowing out the Commanders in the conference championship, while K.C. had a much tighter matchup on its hands but was able to edge out the Bills to keep its hopes of a three-peat alive.

Of course, there will be plenty of time to dissect this upcoming matchup before kickoff in New Orleans on Feb. 9, but the oddsmakers are already sizing up this rematch of Super Bowl LVII. As we gear up for this latest Super Bowl, we’ll take our first glimpse of the opening odds for this matchup and see which team is favored to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

Chiefs vs. Eagles (Sunday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m., Fox, fubo)

The Chiefs have opened as roughly a 1.5-point favorite over the Eagles, which is a tad surprising. Coming into the conference championship games, the Eagles were the betting favorite among the final four to win the Super Bowl at +175 with the Chiefs behind them at +240. This season, the Chiefs are 9-10 ATS (including playoffs), which includes an 8-8 mark as a favorite. Meanwhile, the Eagles were a much better team to back against the number throughout the year, owning a 13-7 ATS record. That 65% cover rate was the second highest in the NFL. Philadelphia has only been an underdog three times this season. In all of those matchups, the Eagles not only covered but have also won outright.

As for the total, the Under is a combined 22-17 between these two teams…

  • Jets 2025 NFL Mock Draft Roundup: Could Gang Green go with a playmaker in Round 1?

Jets 2025 NFL Mock Draft Roundup: Could Gang Green go with a playmaker in Round 1?

After going through an extensive search following their separation from GM Joe Douglas, the Jets decided to take a shot on assistant GM Darren Mougey from the Denver Broncos.

Mougey held various positions during his journey through the organization, and he now comes to the Big Apple, where he’ll be tasked with helping turn around a squad that finished 5-12 last season and hasn’t made the playoffs in 14 years.

One of his first tasks to tackle — the NFL Draft.

After another rough season, Gang Green currently holds the seventh overall pick in the 2025 Draft.

Here’s what the experts have them doing…

    Connor Rogers, NBC Sports

    WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona

Even if Aaron Rodgers isn’t back (and assuming Davante Adams won’t be), the Jets will most likely roll with a veteran in 2025 and continue to build the roster for a young quarterback down the road. McMillan’s size, contested-catch ability and red zone presence is the perfect complement across from Garrett Wilson.

    Charlie Campbell, Walter Football

    WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona

Davante Adams will probably be a cap casualty, and the Jets could use an upgrade across from Garrett Wilson. In 2024, McMillan had 84 receptions for 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns. To open the season, McMillan had an amazing performance with 10 catches for 304 yards and four touchdowns taking on New Mexico.

Arizona had an impressive 2023 season while featuring a dangerous passing attack. WR Jacob Cowing was a known factor for 2023, but McMillan emerged as a playmaker that season. The sophomore caught 90 passes for 1,402 yards and 10 touchdowns. McMillan notched 39 catches for 702 yards and eight scores as a freshman.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder McMillan has mismatch size for the NFL.
    Ryan Wilson, CBS Sports

    WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona

Tetairoa McMillan is 6-foot-5, but he moves like a shifty slot receiver with the benefit of an enormous catch radius and the ability to make contested catches look easy. Think Drake London but a better athlete.

NFL coach, GM interview tracker, updates: Cowboys hire Brian Schottenheimer, leaving Saints as lone vacancy

The NFL playoffs continue on with just a small handful of teams still alive. Yet for a large number of franchises, it’s time to move into offseason mode. Realistically, some of them have already done so — especially those who have made changes at the head coach or general manager positions. And because it’s what we do here, we’re going to let you know exactly which jobs are open, and who might be up for them.

Rather than scouring the scattershot reports across social media, CBSSports.com has compiled all of those reports of interest in one place. Below, we will track all of the coordinator, head coach and general manager candidates and where they have been requested to interview.

    Head coaches

    Dallas Cowboys hire Brian Schottenheimer

On the eve of a contract set to expire, the Dallas Cowboys and Mike McCarthy decided to part ways. This snapped a five-season tenure for McCarthy in Dallas during which he went 49-34 during his 84 regular-season games. While the club reached heights of three-straight 12-5 seasons, postseason success alluded them, which is likely what Jerry Jones will be looking for in his next head coach. That’s partially why he opted to retain a piece of McCarthy’s coaching staff by promoting offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to be his next head coach. The Cowboys already have Dak Prescott in place at quarterback along with wideout CeeDee Lamb as the franchise’s top skill-position player. Defensively, Dallas will look to retain star pass rusher Micah Parsons, so there are some intriguing building blocks for Schottenheimer to work with in 2025. The key will be keeping players healthy as numerous key Dallas

Here are the candidates the Cowboys interviewed/planned to interview:

  • Texans reportedly fire OC Bobby Slowik after 2 seasons despite divisional-round appearance

Texans reportedly fire OC Bobby Slowik after 2 seasons despite divisional-round appearance

The Houston Texans are making a surprise shakeup: The team has fired offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, per multiple media reports. Offensive line coach Chris Strausser has reportedly also been let go.

Slowik, 37, was hired by the team in 2023, joining head coach DeMeco Ryan’s staff in his first season. The young coordinator came to Houston after six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, holding various roles throughout the staff.

Slowik’s dismissal comes less than a week after the Texans lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC divisional round, 23-14. Houston struggled to get a touchdown in the first half of the game, seemingly dooming the team from the start.

Despite reaching the playoffs, the Texans have been inconsistent on offense throughout the season. The team’s offensive production was middling-to-low and second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud’s statistics were down compared to last season. Stroud was also sacked 52 times this season, marking issues on the o-line.

Still, it’s a surprising move from the Texans, who improved exponentially in the two seasons since Ryans and Slowik joined the team. Houston went from a 3-13 in 2022 to two straight AFC South titles and two straight divisional-round appearances.

Slowik returned to the Texans last season after taking multiple head coach interviews. This year, he has already interviewed for the New York Jets head coaching job.

  • Eagles vs. Commanders: Why Philadelphia has NFL conference title game history on its side vs. Washington

Eagles vs. Commanders: Why Philadelphia has NFL conference title game history on its side vs. Washington

For several reasons, the 2024 NFC Championship game promises to be a classic. Along with having star players on both sides, this game is unique in that it will pit two division rivals against one another. Sunday’s game between the Eagles and Commanders will mark the 20th time since the merger that two divisional opponents will play with a trip to the Super Bowl at stake.

Eagles fans of a certain age can recall the first time their team faced a divisional foe in the NFC title game, when Philadelphia’s 1980 squad punched its first ticket to the Super Bowl after vanquishing the Cowboys. Washington fans have also been through this before; their team is 2-1 against division rivals in conference title games entering Sunday’s game in Philadelphia. Like the Eagles, Washington’s first NFC title was won at the Cowboys’ expense.

The Eagles and Commanders split their regular season series. Philadelphia recorded a 26-18 win over Washington back in Week 11. The Commanders got some payback by upsetting the Eagles, 36-33, in Week 16 in a game that saw Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts leave early after sustaining a head injury.

On paper, the Eagles seem to have the edge going into the rubber match. Philadelphia will be at home after capturing the NFC East division crown for a second time in three years. The Eagles nearly defeated Washington in Week 16 despite Hurts’ absence. And they have an MVP candidate in running back Saquon Barkley, who ran for 296 yards and four touchdowns against Washington during the regular season.

Commanders vs. Eagles matchup breakdown: Which team has the edge at each position in NFC Championship?
