2025 SEC Media Days schedule, where to watch: When coaches, teams will speak during four-day event in Atlanta

Talking season is in full swing as SEC personnel are set to descend upon Atlanta this week for 2025 SEC Media Days. From July 14 to July 17, the league’s coaches will either get through their allotted time slot as quickly as possible, or they will take their chance to hype their respective teams just over a month before the season gets into full swing.

Though there are no new schools, or even new coaches, entering the league in 2025, there’s still plenty to look forward to. Few names will demand as much attention as Texas quarterback Arch Manning, who will travel with coach Steve Sarkisian to represent the Longhorns in Atlanta.

Manning, a former No. 1 overall recruit and scion of one of the most notable football families to ever grace the game, is entering his much-anticipated first season as Texas’ starter. He is also one of 11 expected starting quarterbacks that will be present at SEC Media Days.

Texas is one of several SEC teams that are expected to be in the mix for a 12-team College Football Playoff, though the conference will be hunting for its first national title since 2022. It will be fascinating to see if Alabama improves from its somewhat disappointing nine-win campaign in its first year under new coach Kalen DeBoer, or how Tennessee — which lost starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava to the transfer portal late in the spring — follows up its first playoff appearance in program history.

Here’s a look at where to watch 2025 SEC Media Days, and a breakdown of the full appearance schedule ahead of the anticipated event.

    Dates: July 14-17
Location: Omni Atlanta Hotel at Centennial Park | Atlanta, Georgia

  • Eagles coach Nick Sirianni slams criticism that Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts isn’t a top-tier QB: ‘That’s bulls***’

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni slams criticism that Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts isn’t a top-tier QB: ‘That’s bulls***’

Jalen Hurts is a Super Bowl champion and a Super Bowl MVP.

But the jury remains out on where exactly Hurts stands in the echelon of NFL quarterback play.

Hurts’ hardware from leading the Philadelphia Eagles to their second Super Bowl title in February leaves him as a made NFL man. But his performance as a starter of four-plus seasons leaves plenty of detractors of his bona fides.

Hurts doesn’t stack up with the top tier or even the second tier of NFL passers. And his success is more of a product of his elite supporting cast than his own abilities. So that argument goes.

    Nick Sirianni: ‘That’s bulls***’

That’s not an argument that Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is interested in entertaining. He lashed out at the case in candid comments recently made to local media that surfaced Monday.

“Yeah, that’s bulls***,” Sirianni said, per Reuben Franks of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Sirianni went on to characterize the criticism of Hurts as a media contrivance — something to fill air time in a broadcast environment with a lot of hours to fill.

“Anytime, I hear that, it’s cool, it’s like a nice debate thing that people like to have,” Sirianni continued. “And I get it, there’s a lot of hours that TV shows and radio stations have to fill to be able to fill that debate.

“I understand that, but we’re talking about the ultimate team game there is, and he does whatever he needs to do to win each and every game.”

That’s legitimate criticism of media from Sirianni. But it doesn’t directly address the criticism of Hurts, which isn’t without merit.

Criticism of Jalen Hurts’ game is valid. But this is what does — and should — matter to Nick Sirianni.

Is the criticism of Hurts warranted?

Hurts plays behind the league’s best offensive lines and has an elite group of playmakers at his disposal, most notably reigning Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley and three-time Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Brown.

  • As WSU QB Zevi Eckhaus prepares for fall camp, he’s staying present as ever

As WSU QB Zevi Eckhaus prepares for fall camp, he’s staying present as ever

PULLMAN – On a warm July morning this week, Zevi Eckhaus rode the elevator up to the fifth floor of the Cougar Football Complex, the level that houses all the Washington State football coaches’ offices. He was headed to chat with his new quarterback coach and offensive coordinator, Danny Freund.

Freund began talking about the improvements he’s seen from Eckhaus, the Cougars’ incumbent candidate to start at quarterback this fall. Eckhaus said he feels like he’s made all kinds of strides this summer, some physical, some mental. But Eckhaus took care to mention the biggest development he’s made involves tenure.

After transferring to WSU in January 2024, he’s been a Coug for about a year and a half. That, he’s picked up, has made a difference.

“Not only from a player standpoint,” Eckhaus said, “but just being able to connect with my teammates, you know? They know who I am.”

To Eckhaus’ credit, he has lots of new ones this year. He has a few returning receivers to throw to, including veteran Josh Meredith and sophomore Branden Ganashamoorthy, but new faces also abound: Oregon State transfer wideout Jeremiah Noga and junior college transfer Devin Ellison, and that’s only the receivers.

Returning offensive linemen Brock Dieu and Christian Hilborn are shoo-ins to start, but the remaining three spots are up for grabs. Who will they go to? Candidates include New Mexico State transfer AJ Vaipulu, returners Ashton Tripp and Noah Dunham, Division II Grand Valley State transfer Jaylin Caldwell – and maybe someone else entirely who shines during WSU’s fall camp, set to begin at the end of the month.

That’s also to make no mention of one of the storylines that may shape fall camp: Eckhaus is no guaranteed starter. WSU coach Jimmy Rogers made that clear when his team’s spring…

  • Ex-NFL QB Teddy Bridgewater suspended by high school alma mater for giving impermissible benefits to players

Miami Northwestern High School football coach Teddy Bridgewater has been suspended for providing players with impermissible benefits, he revealed in a social media post. Bridgewater, who officially retired from the NFL in February 2024, coached Miami Northwestern to a state championship in his first season last year.

“Damn people done caused all this confusion. Got a phone call tonight and it’s no real investigation going on,” Bridgewater wrote on Facebook. “I told you I have to be an employee to be investigated. Now the paperwork thing still stands but there was no investigation… We SELF REPORTED..”

The suspension appears to be linked to a July 7 social media post in which Bridgewater acknowledged covering transportation, meals and recovery-related costs for his players during the 2024 season. In that same message, he encouraged supporters to contribute financially this year so those expenses wouldn’t fall solely on him.

Bridgewater rose from local standout in Miami to first-round NFL Draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings after a stellar college career at Louisville. His professional journey took a turn after a major knee injury in 2016, but he battled back to start for the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos. He later had stints with the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions.

After serving as a backup in Detroit in 2023, Bridgewater, 32, stepped away from playing to begin his coaching career. He briefly unretired and re-signed with the Lions in December 2024.

Texas A&M RB Le’Veon Moss arrested: One of SEC’s top returning rushers facing disorderly conduct charge

Texas A&M starting running back Le’Veon Moss was arrested Sunday morning by the College Station Police Department on a disorderly conduct charge, according to Brazos County jail records. Records indicate the charge for Moss, 22, stems from a threat or abuse. He was booked and later released.

According to probable cause statement obtained by KBTX, Moss “assumed a fighting posture towards an unidentified man” and threatened to assault him. Texas A&M has not released a statement on the arrest or if disciplinary action will be taken.

One of the SEC’s leading rushing last season, Moss went down with a season-ending injury in early November after suffering a lower-body injury during a loss at South Carolina. In nine games for the Aggies, Moss rushed for 765 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Only Texas ballcarrier Tre Wisner and Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia had higher rushing totals among returning players ahead of the 2025 season.

  • NFLPA reportedly backs union head Lloyd Howell Jr. amid collusion scandal, union’s reported involvement in covering it up

NFLPA reportedly backs union head Lloyd Howell Jr. amid collusion scandal, union’s reported involvement in covering it up

Amid a collusion scandal in which the NFLPA reportedly helped cover up NFL efforts to suppress guaranteed money in player contracts, the union’s executive committee is backing executive director Lloyd Howell Jr.

In a memo that was leaked to multiple NFL reporters Sunday, the NFLPA’s executive committee “categorically” rejected reports “insinuating doubts within this committee” or that it had asked Howell to step down from his role as executive director.

    From the leaked memo:

“As members of the NFLPA Executive Committee, we categorically reject false reports insinuating doubts within this committee or suggestions that we have asked our Executive Director to step down. We further reject attempts to mischaracterize the committee’s views or divide our membership.

“We have established a deliberate process to carefully assess the issues that have been raised and will not engage in a rush to judgement. We believe in and remain committed to working with our Executive Director and other members of NFLPA staff and player leadership who have a shared mission to advance the best interests of players. As we approach the 2025 season, we look forward to continuing our important work together and ensuring the strength and unity of our association.”

The memo was issued in the wake of multiple explosive reports regarding alleged organized efforts from NFL leadership and owners to stifle guaranteed pay in player contracts.

Reports: NFLPA helped conceal details of alleged NFL collusion

In June, journalist Pablo Torre uncovered a 61-page ruling by arbitrator Christopher Droney that previously was not made public and whose details had reportedly been withheld from NFL players by the NFLPA.

Droney’s ruling determined that league executives including commissioner Roger Goodell urged team owners to reduce guaranteed player compensation in the wake of a $230 million fully guaranteed contract between the Cleveland Browns and quarterback Deshaun Watson.

  • 2027 Notre Dame LB commit Ellis McGaskin praised for his football IQ

2027 Notre Dame LB commit Ellis McGaskin praised for his football IQ

Notre Dame linebacker commit Ellis McGaskin exhibits quickness and explosiveness when he makes plays on Friday nights, but his defensive coordinator says it’s his football IQ that separates the Williamson (Mobile, AL) product from the rest.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Class of 2027 four-star recruit loves to watch film, which has impressed his DC, Jon Mitchell.

“I think the part that people don’t see is his ability to watch film and take it to the game,” said Mitchell to Irish Sports Daily.

“There have literally been times where he walked in and said, ‘Coach, I know every play they’re going to run,’” he says. “And I’m like, ‘Huh? I don’t even know what plays they’re going to run yet. What you got?’”

McGaskin committed to the Fighting Irish two weeks ago over offers from major programs such as LSU, Florida, Ohio State and Michigan, among several others. He was a star early on, excelling at running back on varsity as an eighth-grader before taking over for linebacker Robert Woodyard after he moved on to Auburn.

McGaskin was ND’s second commit in the 2027 class after the pledge of long snapper Sean Kraft.

  • Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins arrested, charged with domestic violence in Florida

Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins arrested, charged with domestic violence in Florida

    Getty Images

Cleveland Browns rookie Quinshon Judkins was arrested on Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in an alleged case of domestic violence, according to Broward County inmate records. The description of the charge in Judkins’ inmate details specifies battery and domestic violence via “touch or strike.”

According to Chris Easterling of Akron Beacon Journal, a Browns spokesperson said they were aware of the situation and “gathering information.”

While further details on the situation have yet to be revealed, the situation will undoubtedly raise questions about the second-round draft pick.

Judkins was drafted out of Ohio State with the fourth pick of the second round. With longtime Brown Nick Chubb’s departure, many of the carries in the upcoming season are expected to be split between Judkins and Jerome Ford, who has stepped into a role as Cleveland’s top running back after season-ending injuries to Chubb over the past two seasons.

The Browns also drafted Dylan Sampson out of Tennessee in the fourth round in their attempt to rebuild the running room in the wake of Chubb leaving in free agency.

Judkins started his collegiate career at Ole Miss, where he 2,725 yards and 31 touchdowns on 545 carries over two seasons. After transferring to Ohio State, Judkins rushed for 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns for the national champions.
