Following two clutch road wins at generally hostile Southeastern Conference venues, Oklahoma returns home with a chance to grab destiny.

The Sooners are at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium for the next two games, and should OU win both, the Sooners can wrap up a berth in the College Football Playoff. First up is a Saturday morning kickoff against former longtime Big 8/Big 12 foe Missouri.

Oklahoma (8-2) comes in ranked No. 8 in the latest College Football Playoff poll. The Sooners won on the road at Tennessee earlier this month; then last week, upended Alabama for the second straight year, this time a hard-fought 23-21 win inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

And now OU, which lost to Ole Miss in its previous last game at home, can continue its late-season charge.

The Sooners can also gain a measure of revenge after perhaps the most perplexing loss of their ill-fated 6-7 finish a year ago. Trailing in the fourth quarter, OU rallied to take a 23-16 lead, only to give up two touchdowns to Missouri in the final 1:03, the latter a fumble return with 22 seconds left that gave the Tigers a 30-23 win.

Missouri comes into Saturday’s game at 7-3 overall, and the Tigers are No. 22 in the latest CFP rankings. Last week, the Tigers rolled past Mississippi State, 49-27, breaking a two-game losing streak.

This will be the 98th meeting in the series between Oklahoma and Missouri. OU is 67-25-5 all-time,…

  • 49ers void Brandon Aiyuk’s contract guarantees for 2026 season, per report

49ers void Brandon Aiyuk’s contract guarantees for 2026 season, per report

    Getty Images

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk may have already played his last game with the team. Aiyuk was expected to return to the field at some point this season after recovering from a devastating knee injury suffered last year, but as the season starts to wind down, things have only gotten more murky.

According to ESPN and The Athletic, San Francisco voided Aiyuk’s guaranteed money for the 2026 season during training camp for not meeting the requirements of his contract extensions signed in August 2024, worth $120 million over four years. Aiyuk’s contract included an option bonus worth $24.935 million, which originally became guaranteed on April 1, but is now void. It’s unclear if the 49ers will pay his $1.215 million base salary and bonuses for workouts and per-game appearances.

Aiyuk has been missing from the gridiron since suffering a right knee injury in October 2024. He tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7 last season. The team had initially hoped to get him back to practice around midseason. however, the clock is winding down with six regular-season games left.

“Brandon’s just week-to-week,” Niners coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Monday. “When he had such a big injury like that, just waiting until he is fully comfortable to come up and start practicing.”

  • Broncos K Wil Lutz agrees to 3-year contract extension

Broncos K Wil Lutz agrees to 3-year contract extension

Wil Lutz has kicked for Sean Payton for quite some time. It looks like he’ll be doing it for at least a few more years.

The Denver Broncos’ kicker has agreed to a three-year contract extension, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, putting him under team control through the 2028 season. He had previously been a pending free agent for the Broncos.

The extension comes five days after Lutz made 5-of-5 field goals and an extra point in a 22-19 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, the latest big win for the 9-2 Broncos. Under Payton, Denver has exceeded all expectations this season, and that would have been hard to do without an elite kicker.

Lutz has made 17-of-20 field-goal attempts this season, with his only misses coming from 42, 51 and 59 yards out. The 51-yarder was also blocked.

Lutz’s time with Payton goes back to his rookie year with the New Orleans Saints in 2016. He kicked for the coach for five seasons, then reunited with him via a trade when Payton took over the Broncos in 2023.

Per Pro Football Reference, the 31-year-old Lutz ranks 16th in NFL history in field-goal percentage. He is very much a part of the cadre of hyper-accurate kickers that has changed the league’s scoring this season.

  • NFL Week 12 predictions, picks: Our experts face off on top games

NFL Week 12 predictions, picks: Our experts face off on top games

There are just seven more weeks remaining in the 2025 NFL regular season, and these division races are getting pretty tight. The Buffalo Bills, who fell to the Houston Texans on Thursday night, remain a couple of games back of the New England Patriots in the AFC East, the Baltimore Ravens are right on the heels of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North, and then it’s anyone’s race when it comes to the NFC North and NFC West.

This week, Patrick Mahomes and the 5-5 Kansas City Chiefs host Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts, the Dallas Cowboys welcome Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles to AT&T Stadium and the Los Angeles Rams play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on “Sunday Night Football.” It’s sure to be another wild week in the NFL.

Which teams should you pick in Week 12, and which should you fade? CBS Sports writers Jordan Dajani and Jared Dubin are here to break down the biggest games of the weekend. For clarity, lines for these selections were taken on Nov. 19, via FanDuel Sportsbook, where new users can get $300 in bonus bets:

Pittsburgh Steelers at Chicago Bears (-2.5)

Dajani (Bears -2.5): My Steelers colleague Bryan DeArdo was trying to make the case to me this week that Mason Rudolph should start over Aaron Rodgers for the remainder of the season. I’m not sure I agree with that, but Rodgers hasn’t played well in recent weeks and is now dealing with a small fracture in his wrist. The Bears aren’t legitimate contenders and couldn’t cover the spread last week, even with J.J. McCarthy missing virtually every throw. But I’ll take Chicago with the number under a field goal …  Prediction: Bears 23, Steelers 17

Dubin (Bears -2.5): You’re not going to get me to pick Mason Rudolph on the road. And if it’s Aaron Rodgers playing with a broken wrist, I’m not sure you can get me to take that, either. … Prediction: Bears 24, Steelers 13

Dajani (Vikings +6.5): Which team do…

  • Lane Kiffin rejects questions about rumors, focused on Egg Bowl

Lane Kiffin rejects questions about rumors, focused on Egg Bowl

Lane Kiffin rejects questions about rumors, focused on Egg Bowl originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Lane Kiffin pushed back against growing speculation about his future, insisting he remains focused on No. 6 Ole Miss as the Rebels prepare for next week’s Egg Bowl.

“I’m not getting in on any speculation or stories that have to do with other jobs,” Kiffin told reporters on Wednesday.

Despite his words, questions about his family’s recent visits to Gainesville and Baton Rouge are front and center. Both Florida and LSU have head coaching vacancies, which have driven rumors about Kiffin emerging as a top target.

Kiffin has also been loosely linked to the NFL openings earlier this month. But the Ole Miss coach has repeatedly framed the buzz as a byproduct of the program’s success rather than any intent to leave.

That success is historic in Oxford. The Rebels are 10-1 and riding their third straight double-digit win season, which is the longest such streak in school history. Kiffin’s current contract pays him $9 million per year, putting him tenth nationally.

Reports have also suggested Kiffin might not coach the Egg Bowl if he plans to depart. Kiffin has dismissed that notion, reaffirming he will be on the sideline against Mississippi State on Nov. 28.

  • NFL Thursday Night Football preview: Josh Allen tries to carry the Bills over the Texans

NFL Thursday Night Football preview: Josh Allen tries to carry the Bills over the Texans

Before the season, the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans were clear favorites to win their respective divisions. It hasn’t played out that way.

The Texans are 5-5, in third place of the AFC South and three games behind the first-place Indianapolis Colts. The 7-3 Bills are a game-and-a-half behind the New England Patriots in the AFC East.

The Bills have a better shot at making a run to a division title, but they can’t afford to drop many more games. The good news for Buffalo is it won’t face Houston at full strength. Quarterback C.J. Stroud will miss his second straight game due to a concussion. Davis Mills will take his place. Last week, the Texans needed a last-second field goal to beat the Tennessee Titans, who have the worst record in the NFL at 1-9. Mills wasn’t that bad though, with 274 yards and a touchdown. He’ll need to be at his best for the Texans to win and maintain some hope of staying in the playoff race.

The other quarterback is coming off a historic game. Reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen had six touchdowns last week, three passing and three receiving. Allen now has two of three games in NFL history with three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns. Otto Graham has the other, in 1954.

The Bills have some flaws. There isn’t a lot of firepower in the passing game for Allen to work with. The defense ranks 22nd in DVOA and 19th in EPA (expected points added) per play allowed. A team that had Super Bowl dreams at the end of September finds itself with a much tougher road there now. Thursday’s game is an important one to both teams, even if they haven’t lived up to expectations so far this season.

    Who needs it more?

USC vs. Oregon features 12 players in top 100 NFL Draft prospect rankings

Talent acquisition on the West Coast almost always starts and ends with two schools, Oregon and USC. The recruiting powerhouses pump out pro prospects on an annual basis, and they are stacked once again in 2025, accounting for 12 of the top 100 players in Mike Renner’s NFL prospect rankings.

The No. 7 Ducks host the No. 15 Trojans Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+ Premium in a key Big Ten showdown that not only pits some of the most outstanding individual players in the country against each other but could also determine whether one or both teams will reach the College Football Playoff.

Lincoln Riley put in an immense amount of work over the last year to reestablish USC as a premier destination for high school recruits. After emphasizing the transfer portal in the first three seasons of his tenure and seeing diminishing results, the Trojans now boast the No. 1 high school recruiting class in the country, per 247Sports. Riley’s efforts on the trail produced three top-100 NFL prospects for 2025, and more are on the way.

Dan Lanning, meanwhile, has been nearly unstoppable in bringing blue-chip talent to Oregon both through the transfer portal and from the prep ranks. He continues to stack NFL-bound stars like no Ducks coach before him, and this year he has nine top-100 prospects on his loaded roster.

Below are the 12 most prominent NFL prospects who will take the stage this week on CBS.
