Jets vs. Dolphins prediction, pick, odds, where to watch, live stream, kickoff

    Imagn Images

After two brutal starts to the season, both squads are no longer in the laughing stock zone. But by no means does that suggest that they’ve figured it out either. The Miami Dolphins began 2025 1-6, but are now 5-7 after a three-game winning streak, while the 3-9 New York Jets lost their first seven, but have also rebounded with three wins in their last five games.

The Dolphins are coming off a 21-17 win over the New Orleans Saints, their fourth win in their last five games. The Jets are coming off a win of their own, a 27-24 decision over the Atlanta Falcons on Nick Folk’s 56-yard field goal as time expired. On Sunday, Miami will try to take the season series for the second time in three seasons after notching a 27-21 victory in Florida on Sept. 29.

Any chance the Jets might have will involve Tyrod Taylor continuing to be a spark for a team that was languishing with Justin Fields at quarterback. In a season with few bright spots, Taylor helming a win isn’t nothing. But the real key will be how coach Aaron Glenn intends to limit the damage in the run game given both how much of a liability it has been for New York’s defense and how much success Miami’s offense has had with it. Specifically, De’Von Achane has been running all over teams, racking up more than 425 yards rushing over the last three weeks.

Below, we outline how to watch Jets vs. Dolphins with some keys to the game, betting information and a prediction.

  • 5 things to know about new Penn State football coach Matt Campbell

5 things to know about new Penn State football coach Matt Campbell

Penn State football finally has its new leader in place.

Iowa State’s Matt Campbell has reportedly agreed to terms to become only Penn State’s fifth head coach since 1950, ending a winding, if not tiring, 54-day search since James Franklin was fired.

Campbell’s first tasks will be to quickly galvanize a decimated recruiting class and an uncertain roster that must prepare for a bowl game, with or without beloved interim head leader Terry Smith.

Campbell, 46, is known for building one of college football’s better résumés at one of its most difficult places to succeed. He won at least eight games five times since arriving at Iowa State — a program that, somehow, had managed that just one time before since 1978.

Campbell was making $5 million in guaranteed pay in 2025. Penn State presumably will cover the $2 million he owes Iowa State for breaking his contract early, according to the contract obtained by USA TODAY Sports.

Here are five things to know about the Nittany Lions’ new head coach:

Penn State football: Matt Campbell was a national title winner

The Ohio native was an All-American defensive end (1999-2002) at in-state Mount Union, a Division III power.

There, he won three national titles and four conference titles with a stunning 54-1 record.

He was inducted into the Mount Union Hall of Fame in 2018.

    Matt Campbell, overachieving coaching success

His head coaching stats are impressive enough at two of the tougher places to win in the nation: Toledo and then Iowa State.

He owns a 107-70 overall record.

Even more telling: He suffered only one losing season after his first year at Iowa…

  • Why Aaron Rodgers believes new Steelers WR Adam Thielen has ‘a lot left in the tank’

Why Aaron Rodgers believes new Steelers WR Adam Thielen has ‘a lot left in the tank’

Wide receiver Adam Thielen’s representation approached the Minnesota Vikings about releasing him, as the 35-year-old wideout wanted to play a larger role in an offense in what will be his final NFL season. Thielen, after being waived Monday, will get a chance to do just that after being claimed by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday.

The Vikings traded for Thielen prior to the start of the regular season, as their wide receiving corps was hit hard by injuries. However, in 11 games played this year, Thielen caught just eight passes for 69 yards. He was made a healthy scratch this past week, as the Vikings were blanked by the Seattle Seahawks, 26-0.

In Pittsburgh, Thielen joins a wide receiving corps headlined by DK Metcalf, although he is the only pass-catcher to cross 300 yards receiving this season. In Thielen, Aaron Rodgers acquires a veteran playmaker that can move the chains.

“I was joking with him, he said this is the best his body has felt because he hasn’t been playing a whole lot in Minnesota,” Rodgers said following Wednesday’s practice. “So I think he’s got a lot left in the tank and a lot of impetus to go out there and put some good play on film.”

Thielen was productive for the Carolina Panthers over the last two seasons, crossing 1,000 yards receiving in 2023, and averaging 61.5 receiving yards per contest in 10 games played in 2024. Thielen, in his 12th NFL…

  • James Franklin defends Virginia Tech’s run on Penn State commits

James Franklin defends Virginia Tech’s run on Penn State commits

The last two weeks have been a full-speed sprint for James Franklin at Virginia Tech.

The former Penn State coach still hasn’t assembled an on-field staff, and with only a skeleton group of support staffers in the building, he’s been grinding: recruiting nonstop, hosting visitors, and constructing a class almost entirely from zero. The payoff has been one of the most stunning turnarounds in recent recruiting memory. Franklin has lifted a class that once sat at No. 124 in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings all the way to No. 22 as night fell Wednesday, which was the first day of the three-day early signing period.

How did Franklin and the Hokies pull it off? Relationships. And plenty of former Penn State commits.

“It’s been a scramble,” Franklin told CBS Sports on Wednesday. “Some of these coaches that took some of these jobs around the country, and none of the recruits decommitted. One of the coaches I saw landed his plane, and the No. 1 recruit in the country was waiting for him there.

“We had a very different experience.”

If you didn’t know already, that coach is Lane Kiffin. He ditched playoff-bound Ole Miss for LSU on Sunday and was welcomed at the Tigers’ facility by defensive lineman commitment Lamar Brown, who is not quite the nation’s No. 1 recruit — but No. 4 overall is close enough.

Meanwhile, the chaos in Blacksburg has worked in Franklin’s favor. Cast aside by Penn State on Oct. 12 after three straight losses — including collapses as three-touchdown favorites against UCLA and Northwestern — Franklin has capitalized on the market. He said he hosted 17 recruits last weekend alone.

The results speak loudly. Franklin has flipped 10 Penn State commitments to Virginia Tech, sinking the Nittany Lions’ class to No….

  • Justin Herbert says he’s preparing to play Monday night, one week after left hand surgery

Justin Herbert says he’s preparing to play Monday night, one week after left hand surgery

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is hopeful about being on the field Monday night against the Eagles, one week after having surgery on his left hand.

Herbert told reporters today that he had a plate and a few screws put into his broken left hand two days ago, according to Omar Ruiz of NFL Network. That gives him one week to recover for the Chargers’ game on Monday night.

The biggest question for Herbert is whether his left hand will be too swollen to take snaps properly. He was able to play after suffering the injury on Sunday against the Raiders, but he operated exclusively out of the shotgun.

Herbert did not practice today, and Trey Lance ran the first-string offense. Lance would start on Monday night if Herbert is not cleared.
