2025 NFL schedule leaks: Here’s a running list of every rumor and announced game ahead of full May 14 release

It’s finally here! The release of the 2025 NFL schedule is just one day away. The schedule will be unveiled on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET, but if you can’t wait that long, don’t worry, because most of the schedule usually leaks out before then.

The leaks generally start off slow each year, but as we get closer to the schedule release, nearly everything starts to trickle out.

For now until Wednesday, we’ll be tracking very leak, and hopefully, we’ll be able to answer some key questions about the schedule, like: Who will be playing on Thanksgiving? Who will be playing in the two early games on Christmas? Who will be hosting the Monday night opener? When will the Eagles-Chiefs Super Bowl rematch be taking place?

Basically, you’re going to want to bookmark this page and check back every so often to find out what the latest leaks are.

We’ve actually gotten a sneak peek of the schedule this week with NBC, Fox, Amazon and ESPN all revealing at least one game and most of those have involved the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only will the Eagles be hosting the Dallas Cowboys in the Thursday night opener to kickoff the 2025 season, but they also have a Monday night game in Week 10 against the Green Packers along with a Black Friday game against the Chicago Bears.

The NFL also revealed the full international schedule and the surprise there is that the Minnesota Vikings will become the first team in league history to play back-to-back games in two different foreign countries. The Vikings will face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin in Week 4 before heading to London to face the Cleveland Browns in Week 5.

There are still two more early schedule announcements coming:

May 14: CBS will unveil one game on “CBS Mornings” while Netflix will also be announcing one game

We’ll be including those official announcements along with our leaks below.

Oh, and before we get to the leaks, here’s a quick note: Keep in…

  • ACC coaches mulling addition of six NFL-style OTAs to occur during late spring, early summer

ACC coaches mulling addition of six NFL-style OTAs to occur during late spring, early summer

    Getty Images

AMELIA ISLAND, FL. — Coaches were presented a proposal for an NFL-style spring calendar during ACC meetings on Tuesday, sources confirmed to CBS Sports.. The proposal includes the addition of six official team activities (OTAs) to be conducted in the spring or early summer months, with padless practices occurring as late as June.

NFL-style OTAs were also a hot topic in January at the American Football Coaches Association’s annual convention as schools looked for alternatives to spring games.

The new proposal would provide teams 21 total days of on-field activities in the spring and early summer, with 15 traditional spring practices. Programs would have the flexibility to use those 21 allotted days across five weeks early in the spring semester or when summer classes begin in May.

The proposal comes just days before the expected final court settlement in the House v. NCAA case. Most proposals related to the college football calendar, including the transfer portal, have been tabled until the $2.8 billion settlement is finalized. Judge Claudia Wilkens has set a Friday deadline for filing briefs in the case before she decides whether to grant final approval, perhaps as early as next week. The settlement will open the door for schools to directly share revenue with athletes. Schools will be allowed to pay as much as $20.5 million to players across all sports, with football players expected to fetch most of the money.

ACC coaches also appear to be in lockstep with the AFCA’s unanimously approved proposal to move the transfer portal window to Jan. 2-12, eliminating…

  • NFL international games 2025: League announces historic seven-game slate of international, overseas contests

NFL international games 2025: League announces historic seven-game slate of international, overseas contests

The NFL will play seven international games in 2025. The league announced nearly all of those contests Tuesday, and one team is set to make history.

Prior to Tuesday’s announcement, the league announced where each international game would take place. Three will occur in London, where the NFL began playing games in 2007. The league will also see a return to Brazil — where the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers opened their season last year.

And then the league will play one game in Germany, one game in Spain and one game in Ireland.

Here’s how the NFL’s international schedule looks in 2025:

Week 1: TBA vs. Chargers in Sãn Paulo, Brazil (Sept. 5)

Week 4: Steelers vs. Vikings in Dublin, Ireland (Sept. 28)

Week 5: Vikings vs. Browns in London (Oct. 5)

Week 6: Broncos vs. Jets in London (Oct. 12)

Week 7: Rams vs. Jaguars in London (Oct. 19)

Week 10: Falcons vs. Colts in Berlin, Germany (Nov. 9)

Week 11: Dolphins vs. Commanders in Madrid, Spain (Nov. 16)

The Chargers’ Week 1 opponent was not announced by the league Tuesday. That announcement will occur Wednesday.

The Vikings will make history in 2025, becoming the first team to play two international games in two different countries in consecutive weeks. The Vikings will play the Steelers in Ireland in Week 4 before traveling to London to play the Browns in Week 5.

The NFL has made an effort to increase the number of international games on the schedule in recent years. The league started hosting one game in London per season starting in 2007. That jumped to two games in 2013, and then three games the following year. The NFL has mostly played three games in London in each season since 2014, though skipped 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2022, the league started playing games in Germany. The Falcons and Colts in 2025 will be the fifth NFL game played in the country.

The Eagles and Packers in 2024 were the first teams to play an NFL game in Brazil. The league wanted to continue that tradition…

  • 5 transfers with the biggest impact potential for NMSU football

5 transfers with the biggest impact potential for NMSU football

New Mexico State is still working to add players from the transfer portal for its 2025 season, and coach Tony Sanchez has already secured several who will be crucial to its success.

The Aggies have signed 20 transfers from fellow NCAA programs from the winter and spring portal windows, with potentially more to come. NM State leaned on many transfers to play key roles last season, such as starters like safety Da’Marcus Crosby, running back Mike Washington and defensive tackle Naki Fahina, and will likely need to do so again in 2025.

Reloading after losing players to the portal is the new reality for every Group of Five team, including NM State. But there are incoming transfers to be intrigued by.

Here’s a look at five transfers that could make the biggest impact for the Aggies in 2025:

    QB Logan Fife (Montana)

Having been announced as “the guy” for the Aggies’ starting quarterback position by Sanchez, Fife has the biggest impact potential of any NM State transfer.

Fife appeared in all 14 games and made eight starts for a Montana team that reached last season’s FCS playoffs, finishing 2024 with 1,890 passing yards, 14 touchdowns and two interceptions. His most notable performance came in a 384-yard, five-touchdown game against Eastern Washington that earned him Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Fife will look to bring balance to an Aggies offense that struggled to pass last season, having played four total quarterbacks that produced Conference USA’s second-worst passing offense. Success from him can bring NM State back to bowl eligibility.

  • NFL schedule release 2025: Eagles to play Bears on Black Friday, plus one Christmas game gets revealed

NFL schedule release 2025: Eagles to play Bears on Black Friday, plus one Christmas game gets revealed

    Getty Images

The Philadelphia Eagles have been dominating the NFL schedule reveals for the broadcast and streaming partners, as another game for the Super Bowl champions has been announced. The Eagles will host the Chicago Bears for Amazon’s annual “Black Friday” game, which will be held the day after Thanksgiving on Nov. 28. The game will be played at 3 p.m. ET.

The game will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video, as Amazon created the idea of having a game on “Black Friday” to coincide with its biggest shopping day of the year. This is the third year of the “Black Friday” contest, and the first between two NFC teams.

Prime Video also has rights to one of the three Christmas Day games this season, as the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Denver Broncos in the nightcap of the Christmas tripleheader (the first two games are on Netflix). Since Christmas is on a Thursday this year, that coincides with the “Thursday Night Football” package.

For this season at least, the NFL granted the Chiefs’ wish of playing on Christmas. The Chiefs suggested to the NFL to make them a “fixture” for Christmas games. The team is hoping it can start playing on Christmas every year just like the Cowboys and Lions play on Thanksgiving every year.

This will be the sixth game the Chiefs will play on Christmas and the third consecutive year they have played on the holiday. For the Broncos, it will be their fifth Christmas Day game — and first since 2016.

The Eagles have three of their games announced prior to the schedule being revealed. Philadelphia will host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 (Thursday, Sept. 4) and will have a road game against the Washington Commanders in Week 16 (Saturday, Dec. 20). The “Black Friday” game against the…

  • Could Texas, Georgia or Clemson miss the 2025 CFP? Odds each playoff team from a year ago fails to make field

Could Texas, Georgia or Clemson miss the 2025 CFP? Odds each playoff team from a year ago fails to make field

We’re still in the early stages of an expanded College Football Playoff era, so much so that the final format hasn’t even taken shape. There’s a chance this year’s playoff will look different than last year’s, and there’s no doubt the 2026 format will change significantly after that.

The teams that will be in the bracket are what interest me, however. Will we see the same eight or nine teams making it every year, with a few newbies mixed in? Or will NIL, the transfer portal, and all the other possible changes on the horizon lead to an age of true parity that has the CFP resembling the NFL playoffs?

My guy says it’ll be the former, but I won’t rule out the latter. Either way, we won’t have enough evidence to make a decision one way or another for a decade, but I’m an impatient man. And an impatient man wants to make decisions now. I decided to look at last year’s 12-team field and break them down into tiers of how surprised we should be if they miss next season’s College Football Playoff. We’ll start with the highest level of surprise, and teams are listed in alphabetical order by tier.

Returning from the store to find Bigfoot sitting on your couch, in your robe, smoking a pipe

    Ohio State

Another of my theories involving the expanded playoff era is that it will be damn near impossible to repeat as champion; any program that does will be a truly special one. Given all Ohio State lost off last year’s champions, it’s difficult to see the Buckeyes hoisting the trophy again. But they can.

  • Cowboys vs. Eagles wasn’t best opening matchup, but it will probably set ratings records

Cowboys vs. Eagles wasn’t best opening matchup, but it will probably set ratings records

Outside of Dallas Cowboys fans — and maybe not even them — nobody was clamoring for the Cowboys to be in the first game of the NFL regular season.

Maybe we should have predicted the NFL picking the Cowboys for its kickoff game. The NFL loves to spotlight NFC East teams in prime spots, and Dallas was the pick to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the league’s traditional Thursday night Week 1 opener. In the history of the kickoff game, the NFL has picked a divisional opponent to face the reigning Super Bowl champion only three times, and all three times it was an NFC East matchup.

While Cowboys at Eagles wasn’t the best matchup the NFL could have picked, or even in the top three, the final result will be what the league was looking for: It’s going to draw a massive audience, perhaps the highest in the history of the kickoff game.

NFL chooses Cowboys vs. Eagles to open season

It’s hard to predict what will happen in a season opener, especially after big offseason changes, but Cowboys vs. Eagles isn’t expected to be one of the more competitive games of Week 1.

Once it was announced that the Cowboys would face the Eagles, BetMGM released a line that had the Eagles as a 7-point favorite over Dallas. That will end up being one of the larger point spreads of Week 1.

The Cowboys, who were 7-10 last season, likely wanted to ease into the season with a different opponent. Instead, they get an Eagles team that lost just once after September last season. The Eagles beat the Cowboys 34-6 and 41-7 last season. And yet, this was the NFL’s pick to open the season at Philadelphia.

The NFL could have taken the Detroit Lions, who went 15-2 last season, or a Los Angeles Rams team that gave the Eagles a scare in a snowy NFC divisional round game. If the NFL wanted to satisfy its NFC East infatuation, the opponent could have been a Washington Commanders team that was the only team to beat the Eagles from October on last season.

But the NFL also knew that no team…

  • Buccaneers’ Desmond Watson, heaviest player in NFL history, aims to be known for more than weight

Buccaneers’ Desmond Watson, heaviest player in NFL history, aims to be known for more than weight

    Getty Images

The biggest stories around the NFL this week were rookies signing deals and participating in minicamps, but none were bigger (literally) than Desmond Watson’s signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The defensive tackle out of Florida signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent, and at 464 pounds (as he weighed in at Florida’s Pro Day) he became the heaviest player in NFL history. Watson’s size has been a story ever since he was with the Gators, but he proved there to be a disruptive force in the middle of the line and not just some novelty act.

2025 NFL schedule release: 10 must-see matchups this season, including Eagles-Chiefs Super Bowl LIX rematch

    Jeff Kerr

As he moves to the NFL, he knows he will deal with another round of weight discourse, headlines and memes as NFL fans get introduced to him. But having gone through that once at Florida, he’s prepared for all that comes with it. As he explained to Buccaneers.com, his focus is on becoming known for what he does on the field, not the number that pops up on the scale.

“I feel like my name is etched in history, of course, as the official heaviest player in the NFL, or whatnot,” Watson said. “It’s a good story; at the same time I don’t want it to be my narrative. I want to be known as a football player, and a good football player at that. But it’s nice to be able to make history…I guess again because I did it in college, too. It’s nice to be able to make history but all in all, I am a football player and I want to be known as a good one….
