  • NFL confirms Eagles-Commanders, Packers-Bears will be played on Saturday, December 20

NFL confirms Eagles-Commanders, Packers-Bears will be played on Saturday, December 20

The NFL says there is no glitch. Even if there’s still a glitch.

Earlier today, we pointed out that the official NFL.com schedule says that the two games announced for Saturday, December 20 (Eagles-Commanders and Packers-Bears) will actually be played on Friday, December 19. Each of the four teams’ websites apply neither a time nor a date to the games.

NFL.com has since changed its Week 16 slate. Instead of moving the games to Saturday, December 20, however, the schedule now has the two games under this heading: “Games Not Yet Scheduled.” With no date identified.

That said, the league says the games will be played on Saturday. And we’ll regard that as conclusive.

Still, the glitch lingers. It all makes us wonder whether, at some point, the league was considering moving a pair of traditional Saturday games to Friday, given the conflict with three college football playoff games.

MSU football offers 2027 LB Zykee Scott of Philadelphia

Michigan State joins Penn State, Tennessee and others in offering 2027 LB prospect from Philadelphia

Michigan State football is the latest power program to extend an offer to a linebacker prospect from Philly.

Zykee Scott of Philadelphia announced this week that he’s received an offer from the Spartans. Scott made the offer from the Spartans known by posting on his social media X account.

Scott plays for La Salle College in Philadelphia, and is listed at 6-foot-0 and 200 pounds. He is a linebacker prospect in the 2027 class.

Scott is currently unranked and unrated on both 247Sports and Rivals. But he has already earned a number of notable offers, which indicates he’ll surely be one of the higher-rated prospects in the 2027 class.

Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, Syracuse, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Kent State have all extended him an offer, according to Rivals. He also has received interest from Rutgers.

  • Matthew Stafford looking forward to “good battle” with Lions in Los Angeles in Week 15

Matthew Stafford looking forward to “good battle” with Lions in Los Angeles in Week 15

When the Lions and Rams swapped quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff in 2021, few could have imagined how well it would work out for both teams: Stafford has won a Super Bowl with the Rams, while the Lions have become one of the best teams in the NFL with Goff as their quarterback — and with the draft picks they got in that trade.

The Rams and Lions should both be playoff contenders again this year, and that makes their Week 15 matchup a big one. They’ll meet on Sunday, December 14, at 4:25 p.m. ET on Fox, and there’s a good chance the game will have NFC playoff implications for both teams. Stafford said on NFL Network that he’s looking forward to facing off against Goff, Lions coach Dan Campbell and the rest of his former team.

“That’ll be fun,” Stafford said. “We’ve had some great matchups. Dan and Jared and those guys did a hell of a job the last couple years getting that thing turned in the right direction. They’re playing really good football. Lost some coordinators and that’s a challenge. Every season is a new season when you step out there and go play. Definitely had some great matchups the last couple years against those guys. It’ll be interesting having it in our place in December. I’m sure it’ll be another good battle.”

Stafford has faced the Lions three times, twice in the regular season and once in the playoffs. His Rams won the first meeting at home in 2021. The other two matchups have been in Detroit, and the Lions won both, in the playoffs after the 2023 season and then in Week One of the 2024 season. Stafford will hope to even the score in Week 14.

  • No. 1 ATH Jermaine Bishop commits to Texas as latest win in Steve Sarkisian’s measured recruiting approach

No. 1 ATH Jermaine Bishop commits to Texas as latest win in Steve Sarkisian’s measured recruiting approach

Texas added a major commitment to its 2026 recruiting class as Jermaine Bishop, 247Sports’ No. 1-ranked athlete in the cycle, committed to the Longhorns. The Willis, Texas, native received strong interest from Houston, Texas A&M and USC, but ultimately decided to join Steve Sarkisian’s program in Austin.

Bishop is one of the fastest risers in the class and was named to the initial group of five-star prospects in the Top247 rankings on Wednesday. The rising senior is rated the No. 25 player in the country and No. 3 player in Texas. Despite his slight 5-foot-11 and 155-pound size, the physical gifts jump off the page.

“He’s one of the best pure football players in the country,” 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks said. “If you’re looking for an impact level on a 1-10 scale, Bishop’s commitment would be a 10. For programs competing on a national level, he represents a class-leading receiver or class-leading defensive back in our eyes.”

Bishop is likely the best two-way high school prospect since Travis Hunter. Brooks had more to say about his fit on the Horns247 message board, telling fans Bishop reminds him of Jordan Addison as a receiver and Travis Hunter as a cornerback/athlete.

Bishop is one of the most fascinating players in the country as a potential two-way player at the college level. In two years, he has made a name for himself as one of the best wide receivers in Texas history with nearly 3,000 yards and 35 touchdowns. However, he might have even more upside on defense long term as a major cornerback prospect.

“Being able to watch Travis Hunter do that at the college level was great for me,” Bishop told 247Sports. “Now that people know that it’s possible to do it, they know it can be done at that level. It…

  • 2025 NFL Christmas Day schedule: Official kickoff times, streaming options for Commanders vs. Cowboys, more

2025 NFL Christmas Day schedule: Official kickoff times, streaming options for Commanders vs. Cowboys, more

The 2025 NFL schedule drops on Wednesday evening, with the league announcing its full 272-game slate for the upcoming season. And the calendar is chock-full of anticipated matchups, including the Dallas Cowboys playing host to the Kansas City Chiefs in a Thanksgiving special on CBS and Paramount+.

Thanksgiving isn’t the only holiday featuring multiple marquee games, however. For the third time in NFL history, Christmas Day will also be home to a regular-season tripleheader in 2025.

The NFL has hosted at least one Christmas game annually since 2020, but the league expanded its presence on the holiday in 2024, when the Chiefs played the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens visited the Houston Texans despite Dec. 25 falling on a Wednesday.

Now we have the full schedule for this year’s Christmas matchups, all three of which are division rivalries and could help crystallize the 2025 playoff picture as they fall in Week 17. Here’s a rundown of the games, with all the details on when and where they’ll be played, plus how to tune in:

Date: Thursday, Dec. 25Time: 1 p.m. ETLocation: Northwest Stadium (Landover, Maryland)Stream: Netflix

Despite finishing 7-10 and out of the playoffs in 2024, the Dallas Cowboys are back on the national radar, perhaps in anticipation of a healthier Dak Prescott taking the field with added weaponry; CeeDee Lamb now has George Pickens by his side, giving Jerry Jones’ squad one of the NFL’s top receiving duos. The Washington Commanders are equally as noteworthy, though, given their rapid ascent to NFC powerhouse by the end of Jayden Daniels’ magical rookie season. Now featuring Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil on their restocked offense, they might be the favorites to challenge the Philadelphia Eagles in the conference.

  • Packers DC Jeff Hafley on Edgerrin Cooper: He looks different, knows what it takes this year

Packers DC Jeff Hafley on Edgerrin Cooper: He looks different, knows what it takes this year

Linebacker Edgerrin Cooper made a positive impact for the Packers during his rookie season and defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is expecting even bigger things in 2025.

Cooper had 87 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 14 appearances, but Hafley said this week that he was mostly in “survival mode” because of how much was thrown at him upon entering the NFL. Cooper also missed time heading into the season with hip injury and during the season with a hamstring injury, which Hafley says has led to a different approach designed to keeping himself on the field this time around.

“When you see him now, he looks different,” Hafley said, via the team’s website. “I mean, he’s bigger now. He’s gotta be close to 240 pounds and this Year Two for him, he knows what it’s going to take. He knows what he has to do now to stay healthy. You can tell he’s dedicated that time into caring for his body and changed his body and now when you sit with him in that room it’s, I mean, he’s locked in and he’s focused. Now he knows what he’s doing.”

The Packers defense showed improvement from 2023 and growth from Cooper would be a good development as they try to take another step forward in his second season.
