    In our latest simulation, we actually have Iowa State with just over a 50% chance of winning this game outright. When looking at a Neutral site game, its important to look at both team’s road splits to see how well they travel. Iowa State went 5-2 SU on the road last season, while Kansas State went just 3-3 SU and 1-5 ATS. Iowa State had a positive turnover margin on the road last season, while K State did not, and that could be a key factor here. K State coughed the ball up twice in their 21-29 loss to Iowa State last season. 

    Kansas -6.5 (-120, DraftKings) 1st Half vs. Fresno State 

    It’s easy to forget that Kansas had several first place votes in the BIG12 preseason poll last season before going just 5-7. Kansas’ major problem was on the road where they went just 1-5. They started to turn things around late in the season, but much of that had to do with winning two games outright (Iowa State and Colorado) as home underdogs. Kansas was around +8 in point differential in their FBS home games last season compared to -6.5 on the road.

    Dan Quinn was excited to see Deebo Samuel run, less so for Jayden Daniels

    The Commanders’ starting offense didn’t play long in Monday night’s preseason game, and didn’t throw a single pass. But they still got some action from quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

    Washington’s sole possession for its first-string offense started with Samuel running for 19 yards and ended with Daniels scrambling up the middle for a 14-yard touchdown. Washington coach Dan Quinn said after the game that he was glad to see Samuel’s running ability on display, but less enthused about Daniels taking off and running in a preseason game.

    “I was excited to see Deebo run,” Quinn said. “I’ve been on the other side of that and know what that movie looks like, so that was cool to see.”

    But Quinn was asked after the game if he would tell Daniels that running the ball in the preseason isn’t necessary, and Quinn indicated he had already done so.

    “You think those conversations haven’t already been told?” Quinn said with a laugh. “It is part of who he is, but it is one of the things we’ve worked on, to say when do you take your shots and when do you go. There will be more of that, at times I’ll say less of that.”

    It was an impressive run from Daniels for the touchdown, but one that saw him take contact from a defender before scoring. In the regular season, that’s part of what makes Daniels special. In the preseason, Quinn probably would have preferred to see Daniels slide around the 5-yard line.

    Three Oregon players named preseason AP All-Americans

    The Oregon Ducks have three players that were named preseason AP All-Americans, matching the number the Ducks had in 2024.

    Junior safety Dillon Thieneman leads the charge as the Ducks’ lone first-team honoree. Redshirt junior running back Makhi Hughes and junior defensive end Matayo Uiagalelei both earned second-team honors.

    Oregon has players on both sides of the ball on the preseason All-American list in 2025, after all three honorees came from the offense last year in quarterback Dillon Gabriel, receiver Tez Johnson and offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius.

    What To Expect From Oregon’s Preseason All-Americans

    All three 2024 preseason All-Americans earned second-team honors. However, similar to Gabriel, Thieneman and Hughes earn the honor after transferring in this offseason.

    Thieneman is a transfer from Purdue, who led the Big Ten with 104 tackles and started all 12 games for the Boilermakers last year. He also collected four tackles for loss, broke up seven passes and had one sack.

    In his freshman year at Purdue, Thieneman was a third-team AP All-American and the FWAA Defensive Freshman of the Year.

    Hughes is a transfer from Tulane, and was a Doak Walker Award semifinalist last year. The Tulane transfer played in 14 games last season and ran for 1,401 yards, which ranked 10th in the FBS, and had 15 touchdowns.

    Hughes also caught 19 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns, and was named to the All-AAC first team. In his redshirt freshman year, Hughes was a College Football Network Honorable Mention All-Freshman and the AAC Rookie of the Year.

    News of the Big Ten’s internal socialization of an early blueprint to expand the College Football Playoff came to light on Saturday before many of the commissioners in the other nine FBS conferences were informed personally by Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti. Leaks around CFP formats over the last year are nothing new, but the timing — with a Dec. 1 deadline looming for a new agreement — intensified frustration.

    “We sound like immature children throwing garbage against the wall,” one upset CFP executive told CBS Sports.

    Bears head coach Ben Johnson was happy with his quarterback after Sunday night’s preseason game against the Bills.

    Williams completed 6 of 10 passes for 107 yards with a touchdown, no turnovers and no sacks,, and Johnson said after the game that Williams looked the way the Bears wanted him to look in live game action.

    “Caleb made a couple big-time throws, in my opinion, to keep that drive going, and some explosive plays there, so it was good — it was good to see,” Johnson said.

    Johnson said Williams has had some bad days in training camp but that last week’s practices and Sunday night’s game were as good as he’s been.

    “I thought the three days of practice we had this week and this game were the most he’s stacked up good days in a row,” Johnson said. “The challenge is going to be to keep pushing in that direction.”

    The Bears beat the Bills 38-0 and Johnson said that was all about the players’ execution.

    “It really had nothing to do with scheme. It was all about our guys and how they wanted to play the game,” Johnson said.

    Now Johnson will hope that promising performance can carry over to the regular season.

    Quarterback Jalen Hurts has led the Eagles to two Super Bowls in the past three years, winning one, and was named MVP of this past year’s Super Bowl. At Alabama, he led his team to a comeback victory over the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game, and he’s also a national champion.

    DeVonta Smith is a Heisman winner who averaged 150 yards in his senior season and is also a national champion, along with offensive lineman Landon Dickerson, who is also a starter for the Eagles. 

    They also just added linebacker Jihaad Campbell from this year’s draft, who has already made an impact on the team and is expected to start. 

    Hurts gets to add yet another weapon to this loaded Eagles offense, which has not been used a lot recently by the Texans. 

    Metchie totaled 40 catches for 412 yards and one touchdown during his time with the Texans. That included career-best marks in catches (24), receiving yards (254) and touchdowns (1) in 2024. Oh, and in college, he also won an SEC Championship.

    He was one of Bryce Young’s go-to guys, whose most memorable moment was a game-winning 2-point conversion catch he made in a four-overtime game against Auburn in the 2021 Iron Bowl.

    He was later drafted in the second round by the Houston Texans, but a cancer diagnosis almost put an end to his promising career.
