NFL: Buffalo Bills beat Miami Dolphins 31-21 to extend winning start

Buffalo have won the AFC East division title in each of the past five seasons and have now won 13 of their past 14 regular-season meetings with Miami.

Rookie running back Ollie Gordon II gave Miami the lead before Buffalo tight end Dalton Kincaid forced the ball in after collecting an Allen pass and last season’s Most Valuable Player then made a shovel pass to Jackson Hawes for the rookie tight end to score.

Miami made it 14-14 at half-time as Tagovailoa found Waddle with the first of his two touchdown passes, before James Cook – who finished with 108 rushing yards – matched a team record by making it seven regular-season games with a rushing touchdown.

Miami levelled again as Tagovailoa found receiver Hill in the back of the end zone before they handed Buffalo a reprieve as Zach Sieler was penalised for roughing the punter, giving the Bills a new set of downs.

Five plays later, Shakir got in from a screen pass – the 200th regular-season touchdown pass of Allen’s career – before Bernard’s interception gave Prater the chance to clinch the win with a 48-yard kick.

“I thought the grit, the mental toughness of our football team was on display throughout the game, particularly in the fourth quarter there,” said Buffalo coach Sean McDermott.

The Bills host the New Orleans Saints in week four while Miami welcome another AFC East rival, the New York Jets.

  • NFL football knockout, survivor pool picks, advice, strategy for Week 3, 2025: Avoid Seattle

NFL football knockout, survivor pool picks, advice, strategy for Week 3, 2025: Avoid Seattle

The NFC West enters Week 3 with a combined record of 7-1. The Seattle Seahawks are the ones with the loss, and they enter a tricky contest against the New Orleans Saints this weekend. Although they are 7-point favorites, the Seahawks could be down two key secondary players with cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) and safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle) both looking uncertain. Include that with the solid play of Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler and the model gives the Saints a 41% chance of pulling off the upset, which is much better than most road teams in Week 3. With some NFL survivor pools already starting to thin down, its time to lock in Week 3 NFL survivor picks if you haven’t already.

The latest Week 3 NFL odds show six games with a Week 3 NFL spread of 5.5 points or more, including Dolphins vs. Bills (-11.5), Packers vs. Browns (+7.5), Falcons vs. Panthers (+5.5), Jets vs. Buccaneers (-6.5), Saints vs. Seahawks (-7) and Chiefs vs. Giants (+6). Those are the games many NFL survivor players will be targeting, but among those favorites, which ones bring the most value in NFL survivor pools?

Before finalizing any Week 3 NFL survivor picks, see which team the red-hot SportsLine Projection Model just went all-in on.

The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up well over $7,000 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception. The model is on a sizzling 37-17 run on top-rated picks dating back to 2024. Anybody following its NFL betting picks at sportsbooks and on betting sites could have seen strong returns. The model can be used to crush the survivor pool format, which calls for picking one team to win each week but never using the same team twice. It survived through Week 1 by calling the Commanders over the Giants, and Week 2 with the Ravens over the Browns.

Now, it has turned its attention to the latest Week 3 NFL schedule and locked in its Week 3 survivor pool pick. You can…

  • Ranking NFL’s 0-2 teams, from choppy Chiefs to befuddled Bears, plus one reason for optimism for each

Ranking NFL’s 0-2 teams, from choppy Chiefs to befuddled Bears, plus one reason for optimism for each

Starting 0-2 doesn’t always lead to a lost NFL season. Just last year, three different teams failed to win their first two games, only to turn around and make the playoffs. Historically, however, the odds are stacked heavily against that kind of rebound, with only 8.6% of all 0-2 teams going on to make the postseason since the inception of NFL playoffs in 1933.

After two weeks of the 2025 campaign, 10 different teams are still in search of their first victory. The most notable among them: the reigning AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs, who are 0-2 for the first time in Patrick Mahomes’ NFL career, freshly toppled by the Philadelphia Eagles in a defensive rematch of Super Bowl LIX.

Is it time for the Chiefs to panic after the club all but cruised to five of the last six Super Bowls? And what about the other 0-2 teams in the early-season standings? We ranked all 10 from most to least concerning, offering one reason of optimism for each squad as they look to get their first “W” in Week 3:

Myles Garrett signed a $160 million contract with this team in March, and even he couldn’t help but call the Browns “embarrassing” after a blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2. With 40-year-old Joe Flacco at the helm of the offense, controlling — let alone moving — the ball has proven to be a tall task.

Reason for optimism: Rookie Dillon Gabriel got a few snaps to close Week 2, and the Browns’ offensive woes are bound to earn he and/or fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders additional opportunities to show more long-term upside.

Fantasy Football Week 3 Kicker Rankings

Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey put the team on his back in Week 2’s win over the New York Giants. When all hope had appeared to be lost, the Cowboys were able to set up a prayer of a 64-yard FG that Aubrey nailed to send their game to overtime. Dallas would hold on for a 40-37 win on a game-winner by Aubrey, who finished with 22 fantasy points.

  • Ref stands by leverage call on Broncos that set up Colts’ game-winning field goal

Ref stands by leverage call on Broncos that set up Colts’ game-winning field goal

The Colts missed a 60-yard field goal attempt as time expired on Sunday against the Broncos, and for a moment the Broncos celebrated a 28-26 win. But the officials called a rare 15-yard leverage penalty on the Broncos, giving the Colts another chance. This time the 45-yard field goal was good, and the Colts won 29-28.

The Broncos weren’t happy about it, but referee Craig Wrolstad says it was the right call.

“For leverage, as a defender, you’re not allowed to place your hand on an opponent or a teammate and push off to propel yourself into the air to block a kick,” Wrolstad said, via the pool report. “In this case number 92 [Dondrea Tillman] came across the line to the right guard and he put his hands on the right guard and pushed off him to elevate himself in the air in order to try to block the kick. You’re not allowed to do that. It is a personal foul and a 15-yard penalty. In this case since it was the last play of the game and it was a foul on the defense, we extended the game for one untimed down. We assessed the 15-yard penalty, and they were able to run another play.”

It’s a penalty that often goes uncalled in the NFL, but by the letter of the rule it was the correct call. And it was the call that changed the game.

    NFL Week 2 preview

Week 2 of the NFL season continues on Sunday with a full 13-game slate, and it’s another opportunity to use the current DraftKings promo code, which gives new users $200 in bonus bets and over $200 off NFL Sunday Ticket. After the Bills and Ravens played one of the most epic regular-season games you may ever see last week, the SportsLine model expects each team to cruise to easier victories without the need for late-game heroics. Two of the model’s best bets for the Sunday Week 2 NFL schedule include both the Bills and Ravens to cover their spreads in double-digit point victories. Buffalo is favored by 6.5, while Baltimore is the biggest favorite of the week at 12.5.

The Bills defeated the Ravens, 41-40, after scoring the game’s final 16 points, all coming in the final four minutes of the contest. With Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson leading each offense, points are rarely a concern, and the model expects that to continue and for them to score enough to cover their spreads in divisional rivalries against the Jets and Browns.
