  • Ravens GM addresses pulling out of Maxx Crosby trade

Ravens GM addresses pulling out of Maxx Crosby trade

Less than 24 hours after the Baltimore Ravens pulled out of their agreement to trade two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders for star pass rusher Maxx Crosby, a somber Eric DeCosta spoke to reporters. The Ravens general manager said during this press conference that he was “gutted” by the fact that his organization had to blow up the deal.

“We were really excited about adding Maxx, potentially adding Maxx to our team,” DeCosta said, via Pro Football Talk. “I had already begun discussions with John Spytek, those discussions continued, we were really thinking that we were getting some traction. We did. As part of the normal trade process, there were a lot of different parts with the trade process, we’ve done a lot of trades. One of the key things is you bring a player in and try to get as much information as you can. We were not able to complete the process of trading for the player, based on our assessment of the situation.”

During Crosby’s in-person physical with the Ravens on Tuesday, they discovered something that made them uncomfortable with their original agreement. Crosby underwent surgery on the meniscus in his left knee back in January, and he is still recovering from that procedure. However, in projecting what his recovery could look like, Baltimore’s medical staff apparently ran into trouble.

This quick heel turn, followed by the Ravens’ decision to sign former Cincinnati Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson to a four-year, $112 million deal Wednesday morning, led the NFL world — fans and reporters alike — to speculate that the Ravens had buyer’s remorse on the blockbuster deal, and got cold feet in the eleventh hour. With Hendrickson still available two days into free agency, and him not costing two first-round picks to sign, was that all of a sudden the more intriguing option?

“This is very much bullshit on Baltimore’s part,” one general manager told NFL…

  • Are the Bills set at offensive tackle in 2026?

Are the Bills set at offensive tackle in 2026?

The Buffalo Bills deploy two of the NFL’s best offensive tackles in their starting lineup. Both of those players are under contract for the 2026 season. Does that mean that the team has nothing to do along the offensive front — at least as it relates to the tackle position?

President of football operations/general manager Brandon Beane is known to build depth along the offensive line, and the Bills have had success finding athletic, developmental prospects late in the NFL Draft and via the free-agent process after drafts. The Bills have built an enviable stable of depth along the offensive line, and while they have been fortunate enough where they haven’t had to use most of it, when it’s been necessary to start backups, the offensive tackle reserves have performed well.

In another look at the state of the Buffalo Bills roster, we discuss the offensive tackles.
    _____________________________________________________________________________

    LT Dion Dawkins

Contract Status for 2026: Signed; second year of three-year $60.06 million contract ($24,877,333 cap hit; $21,946,833 dead-cap number)

    Age: 31 (32 on 4/26/2026)

Playing Time: 15 games (15 starts), 957 offensive snaps (84.54% of team total), 67 special teams snaps (15.44% of team total)

Key Statistics: 10 penalties, 6 sacks allowed, 73.9 PFF Grade (28/89 tackles)

Buffalo’s Walter Payton Man of the Year remains a franchise cornerstone. Dion Dawkins is consistently graded among the league’s better offensive linemen, and while it’s fair to say that he’s closer to very good than he is elite, he’s still an asset to the team both on the field and in the locker room.

The Bills can clear a boatload of space on the salary cap by restructuring his contract, which would help the team in its pursuit to improve the roster through free agency. While such an action would add void years and “kick the can down the line,” it’s a sacrifice that Brandon Beane needs to be…

  • How did that magical 1988 Notre Dame football season unfold?

How did that magical 1988 Notre Dame football season unfold?

    SOUTH BEND – Who knew?

Nobody saw that kind of season coming in 1988 from the Notre Dame football team. In two previous years under head coach Lou Holtz, the Irish finished a combined 13-10. It spent one week ranked in the Top 25 in 1986. It spent one week ranked in the Top Five in 1987. That’s it. The 1987 season ended with three straight losses. Not exactly the look or feel or potential of a team that could/would/should go undefeated the following fall and win it all.

Noie: How did Lou Holtz rekindle the mystique that is Notre Dame football?

A Top 11: Big wins? There were plenty of them for Notre Dame football under Lou Holtz

Little did we know. Little did anyone know that 1988 was one of those years. One of those that we haven’t seen since. Thirty-seven Irish seasons and counting since perfection. Since the last national championship.

Here is a game-by-game review of the 1988 Notre Dame football season that culminated in the school’s 11th and most recent national championship under the late Lou Holtz, who died on March 4 at age 89.

A home night game to start the season? Check. One of your biggest rivals on the other sideline? Check. Go four quarters without scoring an offensive touchdown, but still win? Uh, check.

That wasn’t how Notre Dame drew it up, but it worked. Four field goals from Reggie Ho, a 5-foot-5, 135-pound walk-on who came from nowhere to steal the national spotlight. Ho’s 26-yard field goal with 1:13 left gave the Irish the 19-17 lead in a game…

  • NFL free agency tracker 2026: Full list of every signing, trade and move

NFL free agency tracker 2026: Full list of every signing, trade and move

    Getty Images

Welcome to the start of NFL free agency, one of the busiest periods not only of the offseason but of the entire year, as every team looks to rebuild its roster for the upcoming season.

Monday was expected to be busy, and it certainly was as several notable moves were made. Among them was quarterback Malik Willis agreeing to terms with the Miami Dolphins, wideout Alec Pierce signing a historic new deal with the Indianapolis Colts, former Indianapolis teammate Michael Pittman getting traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, fellow wideout Mike Evans coming to terms with the San Francisco 49ers, and running backs Kenneth Walker III and Travis Etienne joining with the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints, respectively.

As usual, quarterback news is expected to make up a significant portion of free agency. The first domino fell Monday afternoon, with the Falcons signing ex-Dolphin Tua Tagovailoa to a one-year, $1.3 million deal to join 2024 top-10 pick Michael Penix Jr.

Among other notable quarterbacks expected to land on new teams are fellow former first-round pick Kyler Murray and veteran Kirk Cousins — both of whom are set to be released at the start of the new league year on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET. Daniel Jones (who received the transition tag from the Colts) and soon-to-be free agent Aaron Rodgers also face uncertain futures.

On Tuesday, Geno Smith returned to the Jets in a late-round pick swap with the Raiders. Other noteworthy moves included Romeo Doubs joining the Patriots and Isiah Pacheco signing with the Lions.

But the real bombshell exploded Tuesday night when the Ravens backed out of their trade for Maxx Crosby due to medical concerns. Two first-round picks go back to Baltimore while Las Vegas is left…

  • College Sports Commission’s NIL clearinghouse strained by surge in deals

College Sports Commission’s NIL clearinghouse strained by surge in deals

The system created to regulate name, image and likeness deals across college sports is facing a reality its architects did not fully anticipate.

A surge of NIL agreements tied to school-affiliated entities — including booster collectives, multimedia partners and apparel companies — is overwhelming the College Sports Commission, college sports’ new clearinghouse, and driving longer review timelines, according to data released Tuesday by the commission. The spike coincided with the January transfer portal window, when thousands of players moved between programs across college football.

“I don’t think the system was designed with this amount of associated deals in mind,” said Bryan Seeley, CEO of the College Sports Commission.

NIL agreements involving associated entities accounted for 63% of all NIL deals and 78% of their value in January and February. Among power-conference programs, associated deal volume rose 65% compared to November and December, while the average value of those deals increased sharply.

Associated deals require greater scrutiny from investigators under the House settlement reached last year, contributing to longer review times and rising frustration among schools and attorneys overseeing the…

  • Bills, TE Dawson Knox agree to new three-year contract

Bills, TE Dawson Knox agree to new three-year contract

The Bills are keeping one of their tight ends around for the next couple of years.

According to multiple reports, Dawson Knox has agreed to a new three-year contract with Buffalo.

Knox, 29, had one year remaining on his deal with the Bills. But, as noted by Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, the tight end was due to make $12 million in 2026, with a $1.5 million roster bonus due to him on Sunday.

Now Knox and Buffalo have worked through a new deal to keep him with the club.

A third-round pick in the 2019 draft, Knox has played his entire career with the Bills. A one-time Pro Bowler, Knox has registered 229 catches for 2,694 yards with 27 touchdowns in his seven seasons.

In 2026, Knox played all 17 games with 12 starts, tallying 36 receptions for 417 yards with four TDs. He was on the field for 58 percent of Buffalo’s offensive snaps.
