2024 Colorado football spring game live stream, TV channel, watch online, start time, storylines to follow

A year ago, Colorado took to the field for one of the most highly anticipated college football spring games in recent memory. It marked the official debut of Deion Sanders, who immediately re-energized a program that hadn’t won more than five contests in any of the six seasons leading up to his hiring. Fans packed Folsom Field to form a sellout crowd and the whole affair was broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Colorado’s 2024 spring game, by comparison, doesn’t have nearly as much buzz surrounding it. That being said, it’s equally as important, if not more so. Most assumed that, no matter how much hype Sanders generated in his first year with the program, it would be a long road toward rebuilding Colorado.

The Buffaloes actually exceeded expectations by going 4-8 in their first year, anchored by a 3-0 start that saw them climb into the top 20 of the AP poll. Things didn’t go as well from there, but Sanders provided a glimmer of hope with the emergence of stars like his quarterback son Shedeur Sanders and all-world athlete Travis Hunter.

Following another busy offseason that saw Sanders shuffle plenty of his staff — including major changes at both coordinator positions — and turn his roster over via the transfer portal once more, there’s the hope that the Buffaloes could push for a bowl game as they move over to the Big 12 Conference. That campaign gets started Saturday as Colorado’s 2024 squad takes the field for the first time in front of fans.

  • Payton Wilson, Steelers’ 3rd-round pick, reportedly slid due to lack of ACL in knee

Payton Wilson, Steelers’ 3rd-round pick, reportedly slid due to lack of ACL in knee

Payton Wilson went No. 98 overall on Friday night in the NFL draft to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was projected to be selected higher after an impressive final year at North Carolina State, but there was a specific injury concern that reportedly scared teams away.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 24-year-old linebacker is missing an ACL in one of his knees.

From our NFL Draft coverage: The #Steelers selected at No. 98 a stud LB with stellar tape (but very real injury history) — NC State LB Payton Wilson. Despite all that, never misses games and had a million tackles. pic.twitter.com/zaRRSUcsfp

    — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 27, 2024

“He has a multitude of injuries. First, there’s a left shoulder injury that was operated on, was not a great operation,” Rapoport said. “That certainly is a lingering injury. That’s actually not the worst of it. He has torn his ACL twice. My understanding, after talking to several sources, is that one of his knees does not have an ACL. It does not have an ACL. We’ve actually seen this in a couple of other players — Greg Lloyd, Thurman Thomas.

For Payton Wilson, he has not missed a game and [had] 150 tackles. There are some secondary stabilizers in that knee, but that’s the reason why [for his slide].”

Despite a missing ACL and previous injuries that caused him to miss time with the Wolfpack over his five years in Raleigh, Wilson recorded 138 total tackles and six sacks in 2023. He ended up winning the Chuck Bednarik Award as the best defender in college football and the Butkus Award as top linebacker. He was also a unanimous All-American selection, first-team All-ACC,and ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

Wilson’s 4.43 40-yard dash at February’s NFL Scouting Combine was tops among all linebackers who participated.

“He was a guy we had high on our board,” said Steelers defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. “Liked him as a football player. Very productive, fast, really has good football instincts. All the things you want in a…

  • Rutgers football lands a commitment from three-star Sah’nye Degraffenreidt

Rutgers football lands a commitment from three-star Sah’nye Degraffenreidt

What’s colder than ice? Ice Cup. And while some might like it hot, Rutgers football likes it cold with the Friday commitment of Sah’Nye Degraffenreidt.

The commitment of Degraffenreidt is the third commitment in the span of two weeks for Rutgers football as they continue to impress on the recruiting trail.

A three-star wide receiver, Degraffenreidt picked Rutgers over a stacked offer list that included Duke, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Penn State, South Carolina, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and West Virginia among others.

He is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound wide receiver from Atlantic City High School (Atlantic City, New Jersey). He is ranked the No. 20 player in New Jersey’s 2025 class according to Rivals.

A true playmaker, he is a threat on special teams returns. But as a wide receiver, he has explosive speed and can take a part a secondary by going over the top or over the middle.

Degraffenreidt posted a commitment video on Friday.

As his offer list would suggest, Degraffenreidt has a very unique skill set. Rutgers landed a wide receiver who has the potential to be an impact player in Degraffenreidt.

  • 2024 NFL Draft picks: Star ratings for all 32 first-round selections

2024 NFL Draft picks: Star ratings for all 32 first-round selections

    / Getty Images

The 2024 NFL Draft’s feeder class of elite high school talent was the Class of 2021, which was wrecked by the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic:  High school seasons were canceled or shortened, in-person visits were wiped out, evaluation opportunities were few and far between.

Even so, the recruiting industry churned out another terrific reminder Thursday night that stars really do matter. Seven five-stars were selected, including No. 1 overall player Caleb Williams, who won the Heisman Trophy. Each of the five-star prospects who were selected in the first round were members of the 2021 class. Further, an outstanding 15 four-star prospects went in the first round, capped by pick No. 32 Xavier Legette.

The record for most five-star prospects selected in the first round was set in 2023, when 13 such players came off the board night one.

Here’s a look at the star rankings for every player selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

  • Kiper puts 49ers’ Pearsall pick among ‘head-scratching’ draft moves

Kiper puts 49ers’ Pearsall pick among ‘head-scratching’ draft moves

Kiper puts 49ers’ Pearsall pick among ‘head-scratching’ draft moves originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

The 49ers’ selecting Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall No. 31 overall surprised many, including ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.

San Francisco’s Pearsall pick made Kiper’s list of “head-scratching” moves from the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, with the draft analyst wondering if the pick might be related to potential moves involving a pair of All-Pro wide receivers already on the 49ers

“This one makes you think what’s going on with Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, right?” Kiper wrote. “Could the 49ers have more moves coming? In the end, though, I had Pearsall ranked below both Xavier Legette, Keon Coleman and Adonai Mitchell, all of whom were still available at the end of Round 1. Pearsall lit up the combine with his testing numbers, and he could be a better pro than college player. He’s my No. 10 wideout.”

Pearsall posted an impressive 40-yard dash time (4.41 seconds) during a strong performance at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. The 23-year-old wide receiver enters the NFL with a wealth of collegiate experience, racking up 2,420 receiving yards over five seasons. Pearsall spent his first three college seasons at Arizona State before transferring to Florida before the 2022 season.

In his two seasons playing for the Gators, Pearsall served as a big-play threat averaging 16.6 yards per reception. The dynamic wide receiver also returned 15 punts during his stint at Florida, offering an added layer of versatility for the 49ers after the departure of primary return man Ray-Ray McCloud to the Atlanta Falcons in free agency.

With Brandon Aiyuk’s contract situation still unresolved and rumors surfacing about Deebo Samuel potentially being traded, the addition of Pearsall is notable given the relative uncertainty surrounding the 49ers’ wide receiver room.

    NFL DRAFT PROSPECTS

At long last, the 2024 NFL Draft has arrived. Tonight, the lives of 32 young men change, and that’s a huge win for everyone involved.

Which 32 will it be, though? Draft expert Chris Trapasso has been studying and writing about this draft for the last year-plus. Now, his final mock has arrived. Here are his top five:

Bears: QB Caleb WilliamsCommanders: QB Jayden DanielsPatriots: QB Drake MayeCardinals: WR Marvin Harrison Jr.Giants (via mock trade with Chargers): QB J.J. McCarthy

I love Chris’ fifth pick. The Giants moving up just one spot hasn’t been popularly mocked, but it could end up making a ton of sense.

We’ve talked a lot about the top of the draft. That’s where the biggest names go, after all. But there are great players further down. Here are some of Chris’ later picks I liked:

    9. Bears: WR Rome Odunze11. Vikings: QB Bo Nix12. Broncos: EDGE Dallas Turner22 Eagles: CB Terrion Arnold
    25. Packers: CB Kool-Aid McKinstry28. Bills: WR…..
