Where to watch Oregon vs. Montana State: TV channel, kickoff time, odds, prediction for Week 1 showdown

College Football is officially back in full swing, and this weekend there are no shortage of exciting games, including a Week 1 FBS-vs.-FCS matchup between No. 7 Oregon and Montana State.

Both teams went through serious changes this offseason and lost key players to the NFL Draft, including quarterbacks. Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. Hours before the opener on Saturday, sources confirmed to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz that sophomore Dante Moore is being tabbed as Gabriel’s successor. Montana State’s quarterback Tommy Mellott is now with the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Bobcats offense this year will be led by Justin Lamson.

Both teams are without their top running backs from last season, too, with Oregon RB Jordan James going to the San Francisco 49ers and Montana State running back Scottre Humphrey to New Mexico.

The Ducks are the clear favorites here, but that doesn’t mean the Bobcats are a team to overlook. This is an FCS power with a historic national championship pedigree.

Where to watch Oregon vs. Montana State live

Oregon vs. Montana State: Need to know

Dante Moore named starter: Last year’s backup, Moore has earned the starting QB job. This will be offensive coordinator Will Stein’s third QB in as many years in the program, but Moore has already been around the team. The downside is lack of experience. Moore has five starts as a freshman at UCLA, and Austin Novosad, the other option, has just 13 pass attempts.

Oregon has faced Montana State’s QB before: New passers on each side is a major storyline for this matchup and can provide a challenge as the team’s…

  • 2025 NFL team win totals, odds, picks, best bets: Broncos breakout? Back the Pack after Micah Parsons deal

2025 NFL team win totals, odds, picks, best bets: Broncos breakout? Back the Pack after Micah Parsons deal

Ready or not, the NFL is back! The regular season is less than a week away when the Philadelphia Eagles open up Lincoln Financial Field, unveil their newest Super Bowl championship banner, and take on the Dallas Cowboys to get Week 1 off the ground. From there, it’ll be a mad dash to Santa Clara for Super Bowl LX, and there will be a lot that goes down between now and then. And we’re going to give our best guesses as to how some teams may fare in 2025.

As we do every year, we’ve corralled our CBS Sports staffers and tasked them with providing their predictions on various topics surrounding the upcoming season. Here, we’ll be diving into their best Over/Under win total bets.

Before we get going, here’s a look at the panel making their picks: Pete Prisco, Jared Dubin, Josh Edwards, Jordan Dajani, John Breech, Garrett Podell, Zach Pereles, Cody Benjamin, and yours truly.

While we’ll list every team and their current Over/Under odds for the season, not every club will be zeroed in by our panel for a best bet. In those cases, we’ll provide our leans on their win total. Let’s get to it!

    Over 8.5 (-120) | Under 8.5 (+100)

Lean: Over 8.5. There’s no denying the talent the Cardinals have on defense, and that’s expected to be the team’s strength in 2025. First-rounder Walter Nolan will begin the year on PUP, which takes some wind out of their sails, but they still have fellow rookie Will Johnson in the secondary and free agent signee Josh Sweat screaming off the edge. This bet really depends on how you project Kyler Murray and the offense. I like Marvin Harrison Jr. to take a step…

    • Kundestøtte‑respons: Live‑chat svarer i gjennomsnitt 30 sekunder.

Indikator Lilibet Casino Konkurrent A Konkurrent B
    Gj.snittlig RTP 96,3 % 95,8 % 95,5 %
    Uttak < 24 t 85 % 68 % 71 %
    Chat‑respons 30 sek 45 sek 1 min
    Bonus‑krav 30× 40× 35×

Did You Know?

For å håndtere disse risikoene, bør spillere følge noen enkle retningslinjer:

Dette gir bedre kontroll over bankrollen.

    • Utnytt “New Year Free Spins” i januar for å bygge opp bankroll uten risiko.
    • Prioriter spill med RTP over 96 % for å øke sjansen for gevinst.

  • The Prediction: Washington vs. Colorado State

The Prediction: Washington vs. Colorado State

It’s finally time for the moment you’ve all been waiting for! The first predictions of the year are upon us, so let’s get to what each of our writers thinks will transpire at 8 PM on Saturday!

The Huskies are currently 21.5 point favorites according to Fanduel Sportsbook. Terms and Conditions apply. See https://sportsbook.fanduel.com/navigation/ncaaf for more details.

Andrew Berg (0-0 SU, 0-0 ATS)

Jay Norvell has turned Colorado St into a consistently respectable team. They bring back QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi for his third year as the starter. He tallied almost 3,500 yards in ‘23, but also threw 16 interceptions. His numbers regressed last year due to a receiving corps that was injured and underperforming. With UW’s secondary strength, it will not be easy for a sub-par receiving group to make big plays. CSU will also start a RB who got benched last year behind five new offensive line starters. The Dawgs have legitimate questions along the defensive front, but this is a gentle start for that group. Unless the Rams suddenly perform much better than their component pieces have in the past, it should be a good introduction for Ryan Walters as the DC. The alignment of strengths and weaknesses is not as favorable for the UW offense. Some of the most interesting players on the defense line up on the edge and the Rams should be able to get pressure on the QB. UW starts a converted LT and a RT who did not play well last year in front of a QB who is still calibrating his internal pressure clock. The Huskies should be able to run the ball, but if Demond Williams takes too many ill-timed sacks, it could cause promising drives to stall out. Based on the reports through the fall, I expect the defense to look better than the offense in Week 1, but I think the offense should be able to put up numbers nonetheless. It’s…

  • Jerry Jones: Cap space and Kenny Clark give us a chance to be better

Jerry Jones: Cap space and Kenny Clark give us a chance to be better

Jerry Jones insists the Cowboys got better Thursday despite trading a generational player to a conference rival. The owner cited the cap space, the draft picks and the defensive tackle the Cowboys got in return.

Dallas freed up $19 million by swapping Parsons for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and now have $42 million in cap space for 2025. That gives them room to sign some other players to contract extensions, most notably cornerback DaRon Bland and left guard Tyler Smith.

“[We got] a lot of capital that is required to build a team,” Jones said. “It takes many players, to be trite, to play in the NFL. It takes 11 on the field at the same time. It takes a minimum of 30 or 40 — at minimum — to have both offense and defense, not including players who are involved in our special teams. So, it takes more than one. You do have to allocate your resources whether it be draft picks or whether it be finances. There was no question in our mind that [Micah] could bring a lot of resources in a trade. That has been on my mind since we hired Brian [Schottenheimer]. So, there was no question.”

Jones said the Cowboys could use the two first-round picks now to trade for a player. (Yes, he and executive vice president Stephen Jones said this.) Or they could use those picks to get anywhere from “three to five” players. (Even though the Packers’ picks the next two years figure to be in the 20s or 30s.)

“Those draft picks could get top, Pro Bowl-type players,” Jones said. “Could. Not necessarily. Let me be quick to say: You won’t necessarily get those players. You’ve got to draft them or acquire them. But they can get us as few as three or as many as five outstanding players. Now, not only do they contribute in a game that needs a lot of players on the field — not to be elementary — but they also give you better odds that they’re going to be a high percentage of those are going to be available just from the standpoint of…

  • LSU starting safety A.J. Haulcy to miss first half of Clemson game for ejection dating back to 2024

LSU starting safety A.J. Haulcy to miss first half of Clemson game for ejection dating back to 2024

    Kevin Jairaj

LSU starting safety A.J. Haulcy will miss the first half of Saturday’s top 10 clash against Clemson because of an ejection for fighting last season, an NCAA official told CBS Sports.

Haulcy, while playing for Houston last season, was ejected late in the fourth quarter of the Cougars’ regular-season finale against BYU. While the ejection was initially listed as unsportsmanlike conduct — which would not come with any additional penalty — it was later changed after the game to fighting. With that designation comes a required first-half suspension of the next game which just so happens to be in a different season with a different team.

LSU coach Brian Kelly said Thursday that LSU wasn’t aware of the situation until Wednesday, though an NCAA official told CBS Sports that Houston’s “coaching staff was made aware of the suspension and clarification of the fighting foul in a formal letter from the Big 12 conference in early December 2024.” It appears that message wasn’t passed along to the LSU coaching staff after Haulcy left for the Tigers.

“We were informed of his situation on Wednesday,” Kelly told reporters before the news broke. “We’re practicing him, preparing to play him and we’ll wait for further guidance. It’s a little bit of conference and certainly NCAA rulings in terms of what the circumstances are at the end of the game. Our conference has been great, providing the support and we’ll wait for a decision and plan accordingly.”

NCAA rules do not permit appeals for fighting so LSU and Haulcy have no recourse less than 48 hours away from Saturday’s game at…

  • When will Micah Parsons’ contract saga with Cowboys end? Clock is ticking if All-Pro is to play vs. Eagles

When will Micah Parsons’ contract saga with Cowboys end? Clock is ticking if All-Pro is to play vs. Eagles

FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones typically operates with a “deadlines make deals” mindset when negotiating mega contracts for his star players, but he’s really pushing it with All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons.

Just one week from Thursday, Dallas will kick off the 2025 NFL season in Philadelphia against the Super Bowl LIX champion Philadelphia Eagles, and Parsons and the team remain embroiled in negotiations. The latest update is that the Cowboys have medically cleared the 26-year-old Parsons to practice after a Friday MRI came back clean on the area he has been using to justify not suiting up since training camp began.

“Yeah, again, there’s always a chance for more tests and things like that, but at this time we do [consider Parsons cleared for practice],” Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday. “Yes.”

In response, the four-time Pro Bowler is seeking out a second opinion on his back, per NFL Media. Parsons was spotted going through security at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Wednesday. He’s not skipping practice in doing so since Dallas returns to the practice field on Friday after having Wednesday and Thursday off.

These latest actions plus Parsons publicly announcing a trade request on Twitter back on Aug. 1 have cast legitimate doubt about his Cowboys’ future. So let’s take a look at whether or not a trade will actually go down, when the final hold-in of the 2025 offseason could end, will he play Week 1, and what number could finally get this deal over the finish line.

    Will there be a trade?

Probably not. Here was Jones’ response to Parsons a day later, on Aug. 2, out at training camp.

“I would say to our fans, don’t lose any sleep over this,” Jones said.

However, Dallas is now reportedly open to at least picking up the phone and listening to potential trade offers as of Thursday. Here are CBS Sports’ official…

  • Oregon’s 3 keys to victory against Montana State

Oregon’s 3 keys to victory against Montana State

The time is almost here for another highly anticipated season of Oregon Ducks football at Autzen Stadium. The roster looks drastically different this year, but with potentially more talent spread around the field, the expectations remain exorbitantly high. The Ducks will be led into battle by first-year starter Dante Moore as they look to build on the school’s most successful campaign in recent memory.

They’ll be taking on the Montana State Bobcats Saturday in what should be an exciting start to the season. Oregon will have many new faces on the field at once, so it’s fortunate they’ll be playing an opponent who isn’t quite on their level. You can’t make the College Football Playoff in Week One, but you can certainly eliminate yourself.

The Ducks have the decided advantage, favored by 27.5 points according to FanDuel Sportsbook, so they need to follow these three key strategies to ensure they keep the upper hand.

    Hang onto the football

If you listen to a head coach at any level of football, the one thing that they always preach is the turnover battle. It’s always important to hoard possessions, and that practice is even more crucial when playing an inferior team. Turning the ball over is just about the only way the Ducks can lose this game, so Dan Lanning is sure to drill that into the team’s head before they take the field Saturday.

Get Dante Moore into a rhythm early

As we discussed earlier, Week 1 sets the tone for the entire season, but in Moore’s case, it sets the tone for his Oregon collegiate career. The game’s mental aspect is just as important as the physical portion, and there are many past examples of rocky starts to a quarterback’s career paving the way for unimpressive football journeys.

Lanning will need to get Moore in rhythm early with quick, short passes that get him feeling good and…
