  • 2026 NFL combine results: Measurements, 40 times and testing numbers by position

2026 NFL combine results: Measurements, 40 times and testing numbers by position

INDIANAPOLIS — It’s Saturday of NFL combine week, which means prospect measurements and on-field workouts are officially in full swing. The schedule is as follows:

    Saturday: QB, RB and WR
    Sunday: OL

In the morning, players log official measurements, including height, weight, wingspan, arm length and hand size. In the afternoon, they participate in on-field testing — including the 40-yard dash, vertical and broad jumps, and bench press — before wrapping up with positional drills inside Lucas Oil Stadium.

The festivities kicked off Thursday with defensive linemen, edge rushers and linebackers. Much of the day’s discussion centered on Rueben Bain Jr.’s historically short arms, but once workouts began, attention shifted to the top prospects not named Bain, who elected not to work out. (Other top prospects to sit out included Peter Woods, Akheem Mesidor and CJ Allen.)

Ohio State EDGE Arvell Reese — the No. 3 prospect in CBS Sports draft analyst Mike Renner’s rankings — performed like a bona fide top-five pick, as did Ohio State LB Sonny Styles (No. 10) and Texas Tech EDGE David Bailey (No. 19).

Defensive backs and tight ends were next up Friday, and a pair of Oregon standouts stole the show. Dillon Thieneman, already a first-round talent in terms of production, blew away athletic expectations with his testing and on-field drills, solidifying himself as a Night 1 prospect.

His teammate, Kenyon Sadiq, followed that up by running a 4.39-second 40-yard dash — the fastest by a tight end in combine history. In a position group lacking elite talent, it’s not a question of if Sadiq will go in Round 1 — it’s a matter of how high.

Now the focus shifts to the other offensive skill players, with quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers…

  • Coveted CB Kamauri Whitfield names Florida football as ‘top school’

Coveted CB Kamauri Whitfield names Florida football as ‘top school’

First Academy (Florida) cornerback Kamauri Whitfield is strongly considering the University of Florida after decommitting from the Tennessee Volunteers earlier this month, according to Swamp247.

The Gators hosted him on its Jan. 10 Junior Day, and Whitfield backed off his pledge to the Volunteers a little over a month later on Feb. 13. The decision came after changes to Tennessee’s coaching staff and a strong junior season that raised his profile, resulting in increased interest among Power Four programs. Mississippi State, Oregon, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech are among the schools that offered him, and Florida reaffirmed its offer extended in January.

With the Orange and Blue making him a priority target, Whitfield has grown fond of the program. Gainesville will be his first stop of the summer when he takes an official visit from May 28-30. Trips to Oregon, Nebraska and Virginia Tech are to follow. Whitefield says one of those three programs is likely alongside Florida in his top two, right now.

“Florida, they stand pretty high in my recruitment right now,” Whitfield said to Swamp247. “They’ll be, like, top two right now, like top one, top two.”

The Ducks and Hokies are expected to host him in spring, as are the national champion Indiana Hoosiers. Florida is working to get him on campus during the spring, too.

Florida nickelbacks coach Dae’one Wilkins is leading the charge in this recruitment. The Gators plan to use Whitfield at multiple positions, but his primary spot would be at the nickel. Wilkins is young and relates well to Whitfield. Being an in-state option is also a plus for the Gators.

    Kamauri Whitfield’s Recruiting Summary

Whitfield is a consensus three-star recruit across all three major recruiting services — 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. 247Sports has him ranked No. 559 nationally…

2026 NFL combine: Kenyon Sadiq breaks TE 40 record, grades for top tight ends

The 2026 NFL Draft tight end class hasn’t generated as much buzz as last year’s group, which produced two first-round picks: Colston Loveland (Bears) and Tyler Warren (Colts). There may be only one tight end to hear his name called Thursday night in April, but the group as a whole impressed Friday in Indianapolis.

In total, 27 tight ends participated at this year’s event, forming the fastest group ever at the annual showcase. Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq and Vanderbilt’s Eli Stowers also pushed the boundaries in the vertical and broad jumps.

CBS Sports grades the top tight end prospects while also highlighting other standouts.

The 2026 NFL Draft will take place April 23–25 in Pittsburgh. You can find more draft coverage at CBSSports.com, including weekly mock drafts and regular evaluations of the top prospects.

  • How Michigan State hockey can clinch Big Ten championship on Friday

How Michigan State hockey can clinch Big Ten championship on Friday

Michigan State hockey can clinch a Big Ten championship on Friday night.

With Michigan getting upset by Minnesota on Thursday, the Spartans are now firmly in the drivers seat for a Big Ten championship, and could lock up the title as early as Friday night. If that happens, it’ll be Michigan State’s third straight Big Ten championship in men’s hockey.

So here’s what is in play and what needs to happen in order for the Spartans to clinch either a share or the outright Big Ten championship on Friday:

    Current Teams in Hunt

At the moment, Michigan leads the league with 46 points, with Michigan State right behind with 45 points and Penn State also still in contention with 38 points. While the Wolverines are in first place at the moment, they only have one more game left in the regular season while the Spartans and Nittany Lions each have four games remaining on their schedule.

The remaining four teams in the Big Ten (Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio State and Notre Dame) are eliminated and can not play their way into a share of the Big Ten championship.

    Friday’s Schedule

Friday’s slate of games that are relevant to the Big Ten championship includes:

Michigan hosts Minnesota at 6 p.m. ET

Penn State travels to Notre Dame at 7:05 p.m. ET

Michigan State hosts Ohio State at 8:30 p.m. ET

How Michigan State Can Clinch Big Ten Championship

So with the remaining games in place, it’s a pretty simple math equation for how Michigan State can clinch at least a share of the Big Ten championship.

If Michigan and Penn State both lose tonight in regulation (0 points for each), and Michigan State beats Ohio State in regulation (3 points), then the Spartans have clinched the outright Big Ten championship for a third straight season. If Michigan loses in regulation (0 points), Penn State loses in overtime or a shootout (1 point), and…

  • Cincinnati sues ex-QB Brendan Sorsby for $1 million buyout after transfer to Texas Tech

Cincinnati sues ex-QB Brendan Sorsby for $1 million buyout after transfer to Texas Tech

The University of Cincinnati is suing former quarterback Brendan Sorsby for breach of contract and is seeking a $1 million buyout after his transfer to Texas Tech this offseason, according to court documents obtained by The Athletic. Cincinnati claims Sorsby broke a revenue-sharing agreement with the school and owes the university money under the conditions of the deal.

Per The Athletic, the lawsuit claims Sorsby signed an “18-month, two-season” agreement with Cincinnati that ran through Dec. 15, 2026, with a $1 million buyout due within 30 days if Sorsby “transferred to another university before completion of the agreement’s full term.”

Sorsby signed with Texas Tech in January on one of college football’s most lucrative portal deals — reportedly worth more than $4 million. Ranked as a five-star transfer and the No. 2 overall player in the portal by 247Sports, Sorsby threw for 2,800 yards and 27 touchdowns with seven scores on the ground in 2025, his second season as the starter for the Bearcats.

Coming off its first College Football Playoff appearance in program history after winning the Big 12, Texas Tech made Sorsby a priority on the transfer market following the exit of Behren Morton. Texas Tech celebrated the signing of Sorsby with advertisements posted in New York City. Texas Tech posted a welcome message on Times Square’s famous digital billboards to flex the gem of its portal haul.

“We’re fired up about Sorsby,” Red Raiders coach Joey McGuire said in an interview with WFAA last month. “Lake Dallas kid. He’s back home in Texas. I think he’s an elite quarterback. He’ll play on Sundays, and he’s going to be a great leader for us.”

Cincinnati coach Scott Satterfield spoke on Sorby’s portal entry in December, saying his numbers…

  • Top 2027 high school football recruits in the state of Ohio

Top 2027 high school football recruits in the state of Ohio

You can never sleep on Ohio when it comes to producing high school football talent. The state isn’t at the level of Florida or Texas, but it is certainly among the second tier.

Looking at the 2027 cycle, there’s another slew of talent set to come out of the state. On Monday, the Rivals300 rankings were updated and 13 prospects from the state were included.

Of those 13, five are already committed. Ohio State has a pair of huge in-state pledges from interior offensive lineman Kellen Wymer and wide receiver Jamier Brown. Below is a look at the top 2027 prospects from Ohio, per the Rivals300.

    1. IOL Kellen Wymer — Ohio State commit

Rivals300 Ranking: No. 31 NATL. (No. 3 IOL)
    School: Liberty Center

Wymer was one of the biggest risers in the new Rivals300 update, moving from No. 70 up to No. 31. He committed to Ohio State on Nov. 2 and looks to be rock-solid with the Buckeyes. Rivals’ Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said this of Wymer earlier this week: “I think there’s a case to be made that he might be the most natural mover and explosive mover of all the offensive linemen nationally. He can really, really scoot at the second level.”

    2. WR Jamier Brown — Ohio State commit

Rivals300 Ranking: No. 48 NATL. (No. 7 WR)
    School: Big Walnut

An industry five-star, Brown has been committed to the Buckeyes since Nov. 23, 2024. He remains locked in with OSU despite the departure of touted receivers coach Brian Hartline. Looking to be the next great pass-catcher for the Big Ten juggernaut, Brown helps headline the Buckeyes’ early haul. Rivals reported last month that Brown is transferring from Wayne High to Big Walnut for his senior season.

    3. CB Ace Alston — Notre Dame commit

Rivals300 Ranking: No. 72 NATL. (No. 10 CB)
    School: Anderson

  • Virginia QB Chandler Morris sues NCAA for seventh year of eligibility

Virginia QB Chandler Morris sues NCAA for seventh year of eligibility

    Getty Images

Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris filed a lawsuit against the NCAA in search of a seventh year of eligibility, his agent tells CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer. Morris filed the suit in a Virginia state court after the NCAA denied his request for an eligibility waiver in January.

The basis of Morris’ waiver request was that he sustained injuries at TCU in 2022 and 2023, and he argued that he should have qualified for medical redshirts in both campaigns. Morris played four games in 2022 and seven games in 2023 after utilizing a redshirt in 2021. His 2020 season at Oklahoma did not count toward his eligibility clock because of a one-time waiver granted to all athletes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Morris stayed healthy each of the last two seasons and played full campaigns at North Texas and Virginia. He led the American conference in passing yards (3,774) and touchdowns (31) in 2024 and transitioned nicely to the ACC, where he guided Virginia to the first 11-win season in program history and a berth in the conference championship game.

If the court grants Morris relief against the NCAA’s eligibility rules, he could return to Virginia in search of College Football Playoff contention. The Cavaliers climbed as high as No. 14 in last season’s CFP Top 25 rankings and would have secured an automatic berth into the bracket had they defeated Duke in the ACC title game.

Morris’s suit against the NCAA is the latest example of an athlete attempting to use the court system to gain additional eligibility. These cases have largely defined the early portion of the college football…
