Entering Week 6, Fresno State looked like the Group of Five team to beat after sitting 5-0 and at No. 24 in the AP rankings. That all changed with a loss at Wyoming, snapping what was the nation’s second-longest winning streak at 14 games. Now comes another road game for the Bulldogs, this time against a Utah State team that has now won back-to-back games after starting 1-3. This game features two of the top-20 passing attacks…

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos: How to watch NFL online, TV channel, live stream info, start time

    Who’s Playing

Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs

Current Records: Denver 1-4, Kansas City 4-1

    How To Watch

When: Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 8:15 p.m. ETWhere: GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium — Kansas City, MissouriTV: Amazon Prime VideoFollow: CBS Sports App

    What to Know

The Kansas City Chiefs will be playing at home against the Denver Broncos at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs are out to keep their four-game home win streak alive.

On Sunday, Kansas City’s game was all tied up 13-13 at the half, but luckily for them it didn’t stay that way. They took their match against the Vikings 27-20.

Patrick Mahomes looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 281 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75.6% of his passes.

Meanwhile, the point spread favored Denver on Sunday, but luck did not. They took a 31-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jets.

The Broncos’ defeat shouldn’t obscure the performances of Russell Wilson, who threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns, and Jaleel McLaughlin who picked up 21 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The Broncos’ defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Nik Bonitto and his two sacks.

The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Kansas City’s win pushed their record up to 4-1, while Denver’s defeat dropped theirs down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, the Chiefs are the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by ten points. This contest will be their sixth straight as the favorites (so far over this stretch they are 3-2 against the spread).

Kansas City skirted past Denver in their previous matchup back in January 27-24. The Chiefs will need to keep their eye on Wilson, who just threw for 222 yards and a touchdown, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground the last time he played. Will he have another big game against the Chiefs, or will…

  • Oregon Ducks RT Ajani Cornelius named to midseason Senior Bowl team

Oregon Ducks RT Ajani Cornelius named to midseason Senior Bowl team

Each year in February, the top football players from colleges across the country are invited to Mobile, Alabama, to compete in the Senior Bowl. Similar to the NFL’s Pro Bowl, the Senior Bowl is an exhibition game featuring two All-Star teams of the nation’s best draft-eligible college football players. Historically, the players selected for the Senior Bowl have had a high rate of success on NFL draft day and gone on to have fruitful careers.

While we’re still in October and a ways away from the 2024 Senior Bowl, predictions for this season’s class are beginning to unfold. Today, the Reese’s Senior Bowl tweeted the “Senior Bowl Midseason All-American Team.” The only Oregon Duck to make the team: Ajani Cornelius

Cornelius is a 2022 transfer from Rhode Island. After Bruce Feldman wrote a feature story on Cornelius for the Athletic, his story became known nationwide. One of the things that made Cornelius’ story resonate with people was his journey from being a no-star high school recruit to one of the most sought-after transfer targets last offseason.

There was a massive rush of schools trying to bring Cornelius in after last season, but on early signing day last December, he chose Oregon. So far, it seems the Ducks couldn’t be luckier to have to him.

Through five games as the team’s starting right tackle, Cornelius has played 304 snaps (the third most on the team). But what’s most impressive about the way Cornelius has played, is that he has yet to give up a QB pressure this season, despite facing 182 pressure opportunities.

When blocking for the run, Cornelius has been just as dominant. No matter who he faces off against, Cornelius has been able to consistently set the edge for the Oregon RBs — who love to bounce it outside.

Despite being selected to the midseason Senior Bowl All-America team,…

  • Tom Brady says another un-retirement is off the table due to parents, kids: ‘They’d kill me’

Tom Brady says another un-retirement is off the table due to parents, kids: ‘They’d kill me’

Even at 46 years old and nearly a year removed from his last NFL game, there are probably still a few teams who would add Tom Brady to their roster if given the chance.

Once again, those teams should not hold their breath.

The New York Patriots legend delivered his latest denial of a possible un-retirement on the latest episode of his “Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray” podcast, at the prompting of his guest, YouTuber Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson.

The topic came up when Donaldson accurately joked the best thing he could do to juice his appearance’s numbers would be to get Brady to say he was coming out of retirement. Brady responded bluntly:

“I am not coming out of retirement.”

When Donaldson suggested they could still tease the episode by previewing the sound bite with the “not” removed — Donaldson is nothing if not focused on making numbers bigger — Brady responded by saying even a tease would spark a backlash in his own family:

“I can’t tease that. My parents would call, my kids would call. They’d kill me. I wouldn’t be around by tonight … As I said, you’re only allowed one un-retirement. And I’ve used it up.”

That’s all in line with what we’ve heard from Brady since he hung up his cleats for a second time after last season. Brady also has obstacles for a return beyond a potentially furious family, most notably that would force him to pause, or even end, his effort to buy an ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.

Tom Brady isn’t coming back, to the Patriots, the Jets, or anywhere else. We’re pretty sure, at least. (Photo by Fred Kfoury III/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) (Icon Sportswire via Getty Images)

Brady has still had fun with the idea in the post, though, even as rumors remain about the effects of his first un-retirement on his personal life. He’s still spending time with his kids in true retirement, though they are apparently more interested in his guest:

“At this point, I’m just looking forward to being in more of your videos…

Wayne Rooney appointed Birmingham City manager: Former D.C. United boss, Man United great gets 3.5 year deal

    Getty Images

England and Manchester United great Wayne Rooney has been appointed as the new manager of Birmingham City, three days after leaving Major League Soccer club D.C. United.

Rooney has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at St. Andrew’s with the Blues having sacked John Eustace hours after the former England international announced he was returning to England from the USA. He takes over a side in the Championship play off spots with ambitious plans under a new ownership group that includes Tom Brady.

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Birmingham City Football Club at such an exciting time,” said Rooney. “It is very clear that they have a plan and are committed to realising their ambition for the club. We are fully aligned on what is expected. I have been building my managerial career, putting myself in challenging environments, to get me ready for this opportunity. It’s a project that gives me a sense of purpose and I can’t wait to get started.

“I have a clear way that I want the team to play, and my coaching staff and I will work hard to implement it. We will create a winning culture here with an identity that gets Blues fans on their feet.”

Rooney will be joined by former team mates Ashley Cole and John O’Shea, who are also remaining in their respective international roles with the England Under-21s and Republic of Ireland senior team. Carl Robinson and Pete Shuttleworth have followed Birmingham’s new manager from Washington.

The 37-year-old won many plaudits for his first job in management, keeping financially stricken Derby County in the Championship having taken charge in January 2021. His sole full season in charge saw a youthful…

  • Pats made massive mistake letting Jakobi Meyers go

Pats made massive mistake letting Jakobi Meyers go

Curran: Pats made massive mistake letting Jakobi Meyers go originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

One day after the New England Patriots’ embarrassing loss to the New Orleans Saints came another bad look for Bill Belichick and Co.

Former Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who the team opted not to re-sign last offseason, helped the Las Vegas Raiders to a win over the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. He led Vegas with seven receptions, 75 yards, and a touchdown in the 17-13 victory.

Meyers now has 25 receptions for 274 yards and three TDs through four games played this season. The wideout who replaced him in New England, JuJu Smith-Schuster, has 14 receptions for 86 yards and no TDs through five games. New England’s offense has scored only three points over the last two weeks and 55 in total.

Our Tom E. Curran believes Meyers’ success exemplifies where Belichick and the lowly Patriots have gone wrong in recent years.

🔊 Patriots Talk: Jakobi Meyers is symbolic of where Bill Belichick and the Patriots have gone wrong | Listen & Subscribe | Watch on YouTube

“Jakobi Meyers stands apart as the perfect example of what’s gone wrong here in New England,” Curran said. “Maybe even more so than Tom Brady, which by 2020 was a pretty complicated situation. And maybe more so even than replacing (Josh) McDaniels with Joe Judge and Matt Patricia. The root problem there wasn’t just hiring Judge and Patricia, it was not bothering to have a plan in place so that when McDaniels left, you weren’t left grabbing the two nearest guys to do the job. And of course, thinking they could do it.

“But Meyers was a premeditated faceplant by the Patriots and Bill Belichick, in which the plan was to move on from a player that everyone but Bill Belichick could tell was one of their best and then replacing him with an injured player whose best days were behind him for God knows what reason.”

Re-signing Meyers wouldn’t have broken the bank. In fact, his contract in free agency (three…

  • Texas has fifth-best chance of reaching College Football Playoff

Texas has fifth-best chance of reaching College Football Playoff

While Texas suffered a heartbreaking loss to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry this season, all of their goals are still achievable.

It won’t be easy, as Texas cannot suffer another loss the rest of the season, but the schedule looks favorable for the Longhorns. If Steve Sarkisian’s squad can win the remaining regular season games on the schedule along with taking home the Big 12 title, the College Football Playoff appears likely.

Despite the loss to Oklahoma in Week 6, ESPN’s FPI lists Texas with the fifth-best chance of reaching the playoff this postseason. The Sooners have the best chance, while the usual powerhouse programs follow close behind.
