Nebraska was recently named as a finalist for one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2027. Trae Taylor named the Huskers in his top five, along with the LSU Tigers, the Michigan Wolverines, the Illinois Fighting Illini, and the Texas A&M Aggies.
Taylor has also confirmed that he plans to announce his commitment on June 6. According to Rivals, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 4 quarterback in the class of 2027, and the top player in the state of Illinois.
The quarterback has previously praised the Nebraska coaching staff. Just last month, he wrote on social media, ‘Absolutely love that whole staff at Nebraska football. Their facilities are second to none. The business school is great, and of course, the fan base is on point. The coaches are coming to visit last week in January and have visited my school more than any other school. then I’m headed out for spring ball.’
The quarterback threw for 3,061 yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions for Carmel High School. He averaged 278.3 yards per game, according to statistics from Maxpreps.com.
Nebraska appears to be in as good a spot as any of the finalists for Taylor’s commitment. While the Huskers may not have a spring game planned, it’s clear that the spring practice period will be a major opportunity to impress Taylor and talent from all around the country.
