South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers suffered an ankle injury late in the second quarter of Saturday’s 36-33 loss to No. 16 LSU. Sellers dropped back to pass on third-and-10 from LSU’s 35-yard line but landed awkwardly on his leg while taking a sack. Sellers was taken directly to the locker room before the first-half ended.
Though the ABC broadcast indicated that Sellers got his ankle taped and was going to try and play in the second half, former Auburn transfer Robby Ashford finished the rest of the game with 42 yards passing on 2 of 4 attempts.
“He’s got a little bit of an ankle,” South Carolina coach Shane Beamer said of Sellers during a halftime interview with ABC. “We’ll go in there and look at it and see where we are.”
Sellers was having a breakout game against the Tigers prior to his injury. He completed eight of his 15 pass attempts for 112 yards and rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on just 10 carries. His 75-yard touchdown rush gave South Carolina a 24-10 lead with 4:28 to go in the second quarter.
